We Can't Wait to Meet You!
Join us on a course in 2024!
Summer is our favorite time of year for two reasons: we send out the majority of our courses and get to create beautiful memories with our students, and we start enrolling for the next year's adventures! We are gearing up for that now, with courses starting in the coming weeks and enrollment opening for 2024. If you or anyone you know wants a transformative educational experience in the outdoors, we'd love to chat! We have courses that correspond with different academic interests, outdoor activities, and regions throughout the Mountain West! Check out the full list at the link below and reach out to us at wrfi@wrfi.net with any questions!

"My WRFI course was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. As a student studying Art History and Government, I was unsure if this type of course would be something for me. I recommend this to anyone - your major doesn't matter. The experience is 100% worth it and you'll leave a more well-rounded and mindful person."

Reminder: The Venture Out Project x WRFI

We are so excited to host a backpacking + kayaking course, Queer-Centered Ecology, with our friends at The Venture Out Project! This 10-day trip (July 6th-15th) ventures through Glacier National Park, as well as other locales throughout the Northern Rockies. The course will be focused on the environmental history of the region and the role queer ecology plays. The price is on a sliding scale and a few spots remain open! Check out TVOP's website below for everything you need to know about this unique, immersive experience.
Featured Course: Montana Afoot and Afloat
2023 Enrollment is still open, and lots of scholarships are available! This Fall course, worth 15 total credits, is all about examining the relationship between people and the land, specifically focusing on areas throughout Montana. Approximately half of the course is spent in the backcountry, from backpacking through wilderness areas, kayaking on the Missouri River, visiting Yellowstone National Park, and more. The other half is spent connecting with locals who depend on and care about the land they inhabit.
Fresh from the Field: Colorado Plateau
Our Colorado Plateau crew will be wrapping up their spring semester soon, after nearly two months of traveling, learning, and growing closer to one another and the landscape around them! Two students, Maddi and Gabby, shared some of their thoughts and experiences with us in a new set of blog posts, live now on our website. Keep this crew in your thoughts as they wrap up an incredible adventure next week!
