Summer is here! And that means it’s time to
get outside and have some fun with Fido!
Taking your dog to new places is an ideal way to stimulate their senses. A walk around the neighborhood is great, but over time it becomes less exciting for your pooch to smell the same smells and see the same sights day after day. They need variety, and they need to experience new places and new situations. Did you know that dogs have over 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses?! Humans only have six million. So now you can understand why it’s exciting and important for them to experience new smells and sights!!!! You need to put their senses to work! And that’s exactly why we’re highlighting some awesome  PET FRIENDLY PLACES  where you and your dog can have fun together.

If you haven’t been to   Camp Timber Lake  in Huntington—get it on your calendar now! This 60-acre property is open to the public for hiking, fishing, boating, swimming and camping—and you can do all of this WITH YOUR DOG!
C amp Timber Lake  opened in 2003 and has fostered a pet-friendly environment since day one. On a recent stay at their campsite, our Executive Director was thrilled to see so many pets and their owners enjoying everything the camp has to offer. Playful pooches were swimming together on the shore of the lake, dogs were happily greeting each other on the playground, and campers had set up both simple and elaborate areas for their dogs to relax and enjoy the nature surrounding them. What a great opportunity for dog owners to enhance the bond with their pet and have some adventurous fun at the same time!

The entire property is beautifully kept and the trails are easy to walk. This means humans AND pups of any age can enjoy this lovely piece of nature. And, for those of you who have an extra-adventurous side, check out their  Ziplines ! Although your pooch can’t participate in the zipline fun—you will definitely enjoy the excitement of zipping through the tree canopy or over the peaceful waters of the lake. It’s truly an experience you won’t forget!

If you want a day full of fun with your dog—or maybe even a long weekend—definitely head over to the beautiful property at   Camp Timber Lake . Give them a call at 260-672-3251 or visit their website at . Your pup will thank you for the adventure, we promise!

High summer temperatures can drastically affect pets, leading to potentially dangerous health concerns such as heatstroke , sunburn , burned paw pads , dehydration and an increase in insect bites .

Take precaution before a heat wave hits your neck of the woods: Know how to protect your pet ahead of time so your companion is happy and healthy and you can avoid an unexpected visit to the pet ER.

How We Help Pets & People In Need
" They are not only trying (and succeeding) to lower the number of animals that are euthanized due to overpopulation, they also offer financial assistance to anyone who needs help in getting their animals spayed and/or neutered. They are a GREAT organization and do wonderful work!!! "

Employee Spotlight: Katie
Katie has been with us for a few months now. She is our wellness receptionist. If you have brought your pet into our wellness clinic, she is the one that
greets you at the desk with her
heart-warming smile.

Katie does a wonderful job at communicating with our customers, is always friendly and understanding. According to the staff, Katie picks up on things very quickly. This helped her make the transition as our new wellness receptionist fast and easy!

She is a fellow animal lover and has a dog of her own named Zia.

Katie is such a great addition to the team! She instantly fit in as we all welcomed her with open arms. Thank you Katie, for choosing H.O.P.E. for Animals! We couldn't be any happier to see your smile everyday!
