Sales Surtax Money is Being Invested in Schools this Summer!

With students and most staff off until August, several schools are getting some TLC thanks to Brevard County voters. By extending the Sales Surtax in November 2022, voters enabled the school district to continue to make facility, security, and technological improvements to buildings.


Check out how Endeavour Elementary School is making improvements with money from the Sales Surtax.


There are dozens of projects like this going on throughout the county. Keep an eye out at your neighborhood schools for a sign like this one located at Kennedy Middle School:

Don't Forget: Free Summer Meals for Students


 Brevard Public Schools is pleased to offer free breakfast and lunch meals to all children ages 18 and younger this summer. Please note that meals must be consumed by the child onsite. Serving days and times may be adjusted based on staffing and resources available. The Summer BreakSpot website will post a list of all summer feeding locations in our area. You may access the information at www.summerbreakspot.com.

Secondary Summer Enrichment at BPS

Students in the Summer Enrichment Program at Heritage High School got to fly drones with the Florida Tuskegee Airmen - General Daniel "Chappie" James, Jr. Chapter.

Students participating at the Cocoa Jr./Sr. High school opportunity "Rockets, Rovers and Robots" got the chance to do hands on learning about some of the things happening right here in the Space Coast.

SCHOOL BOARD CORNER

Parent engagement and reviewing the present and future for Brevard Public Schools was discussed during this week’s School Board Meeting. Alliance for Public Schools, a non-profit organization that works in school communities, presented to board members. In April, Alliance for Public Schools held a listening tour across the district to get feedback from the community. Here is the PowerPoint:
