Clintonville - Shawano area EAA Chapter 1710!

Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend their events and join their Chapter.  EAA Chapter 1710 is a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. 

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month with a few exceptions which will be noted on the Chapter 1710 Event Calendar. Meetings are Fly-In/Drive-In with the chapter meeting starting at 7:00 PM. They welcome everyone who has a desire to learn about all things aviation!

We welcome Onward Clintonville!

Onward Clintonville is a grass-roots downtown revitalization group that was formed several years ago by members of the community interested in seeing our downtown thrive. In February, Onward Clintonville became an official 501c(3) organization! The group meets the last Monday of every month at 5:30 pm at the Clintonville Community Center.

Those with a positive outlook and willing to express your creative ideas for downtown revitalization are welcome to join!

Hanna and her husband, Kyle, own The Little Redd Farm, located just east of Clintonville on Eulrich Road. As long-time vendors, they’ve been a valued part of our market community for several years, and now Hanna is excited to step into this new role — bringing her passion for local food, sustainability, and community connection.

As we head into the 2025 market season, we want to thank you all in advance for your patience and support. There have been a lot of changes this year, and we’re all adjusting together. Hanna is here to help guide the transition and keep things running smoothly.

Blanchard Promoted to Vice President Business Banker

First State Bank June Dairy Month Celebrations Near You

First State Bank will again host its June Dairy Month celebrations at all their offices, bringing together community members and customers to enjoy free ice cream floats in salute to local dairy farmers and industry.

Free root beer or orange ice cream floats will be served between 11 am and 3 pm, starting at First State Bank’s New London and Clintonville offices on Friday, June 6. The celebration continues at its Manawa office on Friday, June 13, along with Stevens Point on Friday, June 20, and Waupaca on Friday, June 27.

Unity Announces $2,500 Grant Awarded by The Door County Community Foundation

to Fund Unity’s Grief Support Group held at ADRC of Door County

Unity is pleased to announce a $2,500 grant award by The Door County Community Foundation on behalf of the Mental Health Support Fund to cover costs related to Unity’s Understanding Grief Group, offered monthly at the ADRC of Door County.

“A heartfelt thank you to The Door County Community Foundation. This funding enables Unity to offer residents of Door County who are grieving a safe place to connect with others as well as learn coping tools and insights as they navigate their personal journey through grief,” says Unity Grief Services Director Jenny Boeckman. “This initiative aligns with the mission of Door County Government to protect the people, economic vitality, and environment by promoting mental health awareness, supporting mental health education, and providing mental healthcare for people in Door County. Grief support reduces social isolation, invites connection, and gives individuals the tools they need to thrive. By investing in and offering grief support for those in the county, residents are made stronger, in turn making the community stronger. “



Unity’s Understanding Grief Group meets the last Wednesday of each month from 1:00-2:30 pm at the ADRC of Door County, 916 N. 14th Ave, Sturgeon Bay. Staffed by a licensed grief counselor, this group creates an open, safe space where those grieving can share experiences, connect with others who are grieving, learn about grief, find hope and ways to cope. Unity’s Paw of Comfort pet therapy dogs are present at the end of the group to provide comfort to group members. Registration is required by calling Unity Grief and Education Center at 920-339-6700 or emailing griefcenter@unityhospice.org. There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome.

A Soaring Success: EAA Chapter 1710 Hosts First Young Eagles Rally

On a bright and crisp Saturday morning, May 10th, EAA Chapter 1710 hosted its first-ever Young Eagles Rally—an event that introduced 55 enthusiastic young participants to the incredible world of aviation. Pilots Mathieu Labs, Isaac Follett, Mike Bloedorn, Joe Schwister, and Austin Baldwin took turns giving unforgettable flights from Clintonville Municipal Airport to scenic Pine Lake and back, sparking excitement and wonder in every young flyer.

The skies weren’t the only thing buzzing with energy—the ground was filled with excitement as each participant took their turn in the cockpit, many for the very first time. Following their flight, each youth received a certificate, a personal logbook, and an AeroEducate aviation handbook packed with free resources to help launch their journey into aviation.

Through the Young Eagles program, participants also gain access to valuable opportunities, including a FREE EAA Student Membership, FREE access to Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course (an online ground school), a FREE flight lesson, and coverage for the FAA Knowledge Exam—an educational package worth over $600.

Young Eagles Coordinator and pilot Mathieu Labs shared his enthusiasm:

“Watching these young aspiring pilots take the controls is truly exhilarating—they're naturals! The outpouring of support from the Clintonville community was heartwarming, and it's inspiring to witness a growing wave of future aviators eager to soar.”

A special congratulations to Joe Schwister, who celebrated a major milestone—flying his 25th Young Eagle!

This event was made possible thanks to the outstanding support of volunteers and partners from EAA Chapter 1710, Clintonville & Shawano Municipal Airports, the Fox Cities Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, the Clintonville Police Department, the Clintonville Area Historical Society, ThedaStar EC135, Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Aeronautics.

Meet Emily Chagnon: A Familiar Face in Marion, Now With a New Name

Many in the Marion area know the name Arndt, thanks to Emily Chagnon’s father, Douglas Arndt, who founded Woodside Financial Services. Since 2019, Emily has been working in the family business, helping clients navigate their insurance needs. After recently marrying Pete Chagnon (pronounced Shag-nin), she made the decision to change her last name, but she remains deeply committed to continuing her father’s legacy under the same trusted name, Woodside Financial Services.

Emily’s husband, Pete, is originally from Vermont, a place known for its stunning outdoors, fly fishing, and hardworking communities—values that resonate with Emily’s own approach to life and work. She focuses on making insurance simpler and more accessible for the people of Marion, especially seniors who may need help with Medicare, prescription drug coverage, and other health, life, dental, and vision insurance options.

With years of experience, Emily understands the unique challenges many face, particularly seniors trying to navigate the complexities of insurance. She’s committed to offering the support, education, and personalized service that ensures everyone makes informed decisions about their coverage.
