Chamber Updates July 1, 2021
Chamber Members-

I used to love the MLB All-Star game as a kid. The best players were always represented and you cheered for the success of your hometown hero on the field. Watching it with my kids found me trying to explain the history of baseball, the old-time greats and recalling those feelings that come when you see the likes of Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Carlton Fisk, Cal Ripkin and so many other legends. Today, I wonder which of the All-stars will make it to the Hall of Fame and ask myself how they compare to the hitters and pitchers of the past?

At our June 17th Hometown Hero event we didn't celebrate any athletes, but did get to recognize five heroes within our community and get to hear their success stories as they interact in our community. Rocky Boiman was a terrific emcee for the evening, the food was out of this world again, and with over 160 people in attendance, there was a "buzz" around the venue the way there sometimes is a ball game. No, we didn't have hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, or Cracker Jack, but we did have Reva's incredible cupcakes along with some wonderful food truck and catered food from chamber members A Catered Affair and Current Catering. Beer...oh yeah...there was beer on hand, but you didn't have to pay $12 for a can.

The BB Riverboat event (Aug 6th) early bird pricing has been extended one last time to allow as many people as possible to take advantage of just $25 per person tickets. Our Third Thursday on July 15th will be held at Snow's Lakeside Tavern and additional fun events are being planned. If you don't see something that you can participate in through the chamber, please make the suggestion to me or Debi so that we can find a way to make it happen. The buzz that was created around the Hometown Hero event can happen in smaller groups and in different places.

The Fourth of July fireworks display (at the Colerain Township complex), 5K walk/run to support Pray-Hope-Believe and a three-day weekend are just around the corner. Whether you spend the time with family or friends, or just take some time to yourself, I hope that each of you has a safe and wonderful holiday weekend.

Best wishes!

Dave

Welcome New Members
The Colerain Chamber of Commerce membership is quite diverse bringing together local businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, and governmental bodies. Please share this with your team and others interested in looking for involvement in the community.

Welcome New Members

Our greatest source of new members comes from YOU sharing your experiences with others and inviting them to join. Do you have a business friend or neighbor that would benefit from their involvement in the Colerain Chamber? If so, invite them to an event, make an introduction, or find a way to tell their story to others.

Small Group Initiative
Are you involved in a TEAMS group yet?
Do you know what it TEAMS stands for?
(Together Everyone Achieves More Support).

Using our Support-Connect-Celebrate foundational Core Focus, each team will have a different personality, meeting pace, and participation experience based on the leadership of that group and its participants. As shared above, participating in chamber events as a small group is greatly encouraged. If you have been contacted but have not responded, this is a great time to do so. Please contact the chamber office if you have any questions about how to plug in. Again, a special thanks to the 20+ leaders who have stepped up as volunteers to make this an integral part of our chamber community.
CRAYONS...YES, WE NEED CRAYONS DONATED!
On August 11 from 9am-12pm, the NWLSD is once again hosting their Back-to-School FAIR at Northgate Mall.
This is an event where they get to connect with families and offer them some of the most needed services in preparation for school including school supplies, free haircuts, dental screenings, physicals, and a plethora of other services. In the years past they have had over 700 families participate in the event.
The Chamber is collecting crayons 🙂
You can drop off donations at Art on Fire of Cincinnati, LLC, 9336 Colerain Avenue Suite B.
Please consider donating to this much needed event. You can bring crayons to any upcoming event, Women's Luncheon, Third Thursday, EL meetings, etc. We would love to present them with an abundance of crayons for the upcoming school year.
Team Up to Green Up
An initiative is underway in partnership with Colerain Township and many other organizations to help our community environmentally. This green movement is being spearheaded by several area companies & chamber members, governmental bodies as well as organizations like Green Umbrella and Hamilton County Waste & Recycling.

“Team Up to Green Up – Colerain, is a local green initiative connecting local businesses, government, residents, individuals and community groups to enhance the local quality of life and create a more sustainable Colerain. Through shared resources, events, and ideas, team members promote a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Colerain where we can all proudly live, work and play. We are looking for more volunteers, ambassadors and stakeholders to join!

If you would like more information or would like to get involved, please contact Dave Moravec, Geoff Milz gmilz@colerain.org or Dean Ferrier from Rumpke at dean.ferrier@rumpke.com .
