Duck tickets are available at both Farmington Library branches-- downtown Farmington and on 12 mile road. AND you can make money for your group by selling duck tickets for the race. One ticket is $5, but there's a bonus for buying more. And for every duck ticket sold, your organization can make $1. Go to our website for a list of businesses and places to buy duck tickets!

We appreciate our All Star volunteers...

April was Volunteer Appreciation Month and CARES celebrated with an All Stars Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on April 6. The celebration had a Detroit Tigers theme in honor of the home team’s opening day game.

Guests at CARES headquarters enjoyed all the props of a Tigers baseball game with hot dogs, chips, lemonade, caramel corn, and orange and blue decorations. Door prizes were awarded.

“We couldn’t do all that we do without our wonderful volunteers,” said Marcia Rodeheffer, director of business and volunteer development.

Meet Chuck Duvall,

Another Outstanding CARES Volunteer

Chuck Duvall is a gold-medal-winning alpine skier who brings his desire for excellence to CARES, where he has worked at check-out for about a year. Last year Duvall won gold medals in the slalom and giant slalom events in the Michigan Special Olympics. He started skiing in middle school and has been competing ever since. Skiing is very rewarding, he says.

And so is volunteering at CARES. Duvall has lived in Farmington Hills most of his life, and he’s dedicated to helping those in need in his community. “I want to help our families,” he said. “I like that CARES is a no-judgment zone. The people here care about each other. There’s a lot of love.”

Duvall’s other interests include vintage sports car racing, where he volunteers as a tire specialist. He works part-time as a janitor at a Dearborn funeral home.

We love Duvall’s award-winning attitude at CARES!
