Professional Development Workshops offered to Mariachi Directors for CPE Credit

The Mariachi Extravaganza Summer Vocal Camp will be held June 24-28 for students interested in honing their skills in mariachi voice. New to this year’s camp are professional development (PD) workshops for Mariachi Directors! Directors will have the opportunity to attend the camp on Thursday, June 27 from 9AM-12:30 PM where sessions will be conducted. PD workshops are free for mariachi directors thanks to a grant made possible by CULTIVAR.

UTSA offers Mariachi All-State Summer Clinic

This summer, young and rising mariachi students in high school grades 9-12 have the perfect platform to explore their musical passion and refine their skills with the 2024 UTSA Mariachi All-State Summer Clinic. The clinic is a brand-new opportunity that opens this year as the university’s first-ever mariachi summer camp.

Ballet Nepantla to perform “Valentina” in Houston at MECA at TBH

MECA presents the New York City based Ballet Nepantla in “Valentina” June 14 & 15 at MECA at TBH. 

“Valentina” is a collection of stories that speak to the strength and resilience of women during Revolutionary Mexico. By fusing classical and contemporary ballet with traditional Mexican folklórico, Ballet Nepantla tells stories of struggles, the rich and the poor, hope and despair, and peace and war.
