Appellate Advocacy Training

The DC Bar recently hosted our Appellate Advocacy training for their Early Career Lawyers Community.

We deeply appreciate all the attendees' time and interest in helping our nation's Veterans pro bono. We're now actively screening cases to match these new volunteers with their first case! A special shout out to Sareesh Rawat of TILLIT LAW PLLC (pictured here in gray suit) for all of your help!

National Association of State Workforce Agencies

Our Deputy Director of Volunteer Outreach and Education, Colleen Miller, Esq. and our Deputy Director of Legal Assistance Programs, Chesley Michaels, Esq. did a wonderful job presenting at the National Association of State Workforce Agencies Veterans Conference! Beyond sharing how our disability appellate work transforms lives, they also educated state workforce veteran advocates from across the country on our discharge upgrade, citizenship and women veterans programs.

National Association of County Veteran Service Officers

• We are exhibiting at the annual National Association of County Veteran Service Officers in Louisville, KY from July 14-16th. We have been a key partner with NACVSO since we were founded 30+ years ago!

The Catholic University of America Veterans Resource Fair

• We are exhibiting at The Catholic University of America's Veterans resource fair in Washington, DC on Tuesday, July 22nd.

• From 1 PM - 5PM, don't miss out on the opportunity to connect with us and other Veteran-serving organizations that empower our local veteran community with access to critical educational resources and support services.

Disabled American Veterans Conference

• Disabled American Veterans will be spotlighting our work at their upcoming national convention in Las Vegas, NV from August 9-12th.

• The DAV Charitable Service Trust has funded our Discharge Upgrade program since it began in 2019. To date, the program has restored the honor of more than 200 former service members, allowing them to reclaim both their veteran status and the benefits they earned through their service.

When a Navy Veteran's claim linking his coronary artery disease and COPD to the daily exposure to asbestos and toxic fumes during his service was denied, he turned to The Veterans Consortium for help.

His pro bono attorney helped secure a joint motion for remand, which required the VA to re-review medical documents and other key evidence that had been overlooked, giving the Veteran another chance to receive the benefits he was promised.
