Congratulations to the 2024 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Scholars!

Congrats Scholars! 🎊

On behalf of the Exelon Foundation STEM Academy, we would like to say congratulations to our stellar scholarship recipients this year!

Every year The Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Team works to encourage our participants to pursue higher education in STEM. The Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Scholarship is a supportive and clear pathway from student engagement in The Exelon Foundation STEM Academy to entry into the energy workforce, ideally as an Exelon employee. This capstone offering of a post-secondary scholarship opportunity to our Exelon Foundation STEM Academy alumnae supports students with a scholarship to a two or four year educational institution.

Kadeya Facility Tour Recap - April 28 2024

Thank you Kadeya!

Last month we had the privilege of visiting the Kadeya team and touring their workspace in Chicago!

Kadeya’s network of smart bottling stations and reusable, digitally identifiable bottles eliminate the need for single-use cold beverage containers forever, for everyone without giving up quality, convenience or affordability!

Manuela Zoninsein, founder and CEO, worked closely with our participants walking them through the technology and innovation that went into making Kadeya a success.

Thank you Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Ambassadors!

A special thank you to our Ambassadors!

For the past few years, we have invited our STEM Academy Alumni to participate in our STEM Ambassadors Program. This program allows students to take the STEM knowledge they have and accessibly share it within their communities throughout the school year.

As the school year comes to an end and we prepare to welcome our next group of ambassadors this fall, we wanted to highlight the success of our current STEM Ambassadors and all of the work they have put in this past school year!

Pictured here is a photo that was shared by one of our STEM Ambassadors, Megan Mularz at a recent workshop she hosted at a local elementary school. Megan was able to educate them on the science behind electricity and worked with the students to create their very own Sidekick Circuits!

Interested in bringing Sidekick Circuits to your classroom? Check out the link below to find the free downloadable PDF.

Meet the STEM STAR of the month!

Allegra Oledibe

This month we're excited to spotlight the exciting achievements of Allegra Oledibe, a STEM Academy scholar who has displayed her knowledge and skills both in the classroom and within her community. She has been awarded STEM Outreach Ambassador for Virginia Tech’s College of Science due to her continuous pursuits in promoting STEM education throughout the Blacksburg community.

Allegra is an alumna of the 2021 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy and more recently was awarded the 2022 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy Scholarship.

An excerpt from Allegra:

This past March, with the support of the STEM Academy, I was able to attend the National Society of Black Engineers 50th National Convention. My experience was nothing short of empowering and enlightening. Stepping into a space teeming with diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and shared ambitions was both refreshing and inspiring.

The convention was a melting pot of STEM enthusiasts, professionals, and students, all united by a common goal: to foster excellence and increase representation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a STEMinist, it was heartening to witness the collective dedication to breaking down barriers and creating pathways for underrepresented groups in these disciplines.

Throughout the convention, I had the privilege of engaging in discussions, attending insightful workshops, and networking with like-minded individuals. From keynote speeches by trailblazing leaders to interactive panels addressing pertinent issues in STEM, every moment was an opportunity for growth and learning.

One of the highlights of the convention was the emphasis on mentorship and community building. Witnessing established professionals take the time to guide and support the next generation of STEM leaders underlined the importance of paying it forward and nurturing talent within our communities.

As I look back on my experience at the NSBE 50th National Convention, I am reminded of the importance of representation, advocacy, and empowerment in STEM. It reinforced my commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in these fields and emboldened me to continue striving for excellence in my own journey as a STEMinist.
