Get ready for the best summer ever!
This is why we camp
Need more convincing that summer camp is critical to shaping children into strong independent people ?

Need proof that summer camp is a game-changer for kids with type 1 diabetes ?

Check out this new study by researchers at the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, funded by the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust--an institution that has also been generous to Gales Creek Camp over the years.

Camp Cleanup Day and Open House is just around the corner! Join us at camp June 1, 2019.
Without volunteers, it wouldn't be possible to keep Gales Creek Camp maintained and safe for the kids who need it so much.

Please join us June 1, 2019 at 9am. Click here to sign up!

We've created a list of specific jobs so you can sign up for whatever works best for you. We have everything from washing windows to stocking camp store merchandise.

We'll start at 9am sharp and work until about noon
Then it's time for the Summer Kickoff Open House. New families, veteran families, and all supporters are welcome! Families and visitor will join our volunteers for an outdoor lunch (including veggie and gluten-free options), with plenty of no/low-carb beverages.

FUN (and inspiring) FACT:

The family of the late Dr. John W. Stephens , one of our esteemed founders in 1953, is still heavily involved in Gales Creek Camp.

In fact, FOUR of his grandsons volunteer year-around for camp. Above are Alex, Jack, and Peter Stephens , volunteering at last year's Camp Cleanup Day. They, along with their cousin Grant Heffernan , are all on the Board of Directors of the foundation, as well.

They share their talents, passions, connections and personal resources with camp. Without them and other board members who do the same, Gales Creek Camp would not be possible.
Adult Camp is August 24-25, 2019
If you're an adult with type 1 diabetes—or love someone with type 1 diabetes—you are invited to join the fun at Adult Camp 2019!

The event is a fundraiser to support Gales Creek Camp. The idea is to raise (or donate) enough money to send a kid to regular summer camp, about $475*. As a reward, you'll get your own authentic camp experience with some adult twists.

Join the hiking, swimming, field games, arts and craft or choose to sit on the log and make new friends or attend a session on living with T1D. In the evening you'll enjoy a gourmet dinner with seriously good wine and beer. And a campfire. Need we say more?

Whether you're a GCC alum ready to give back or you were diagnosed with T1D as an adult , we hope you can make it!

Registration opens in May 24, 2019.

*You must raise a minimum of $150. We'll help you raise the money through our online peer-to-peer fundraising system. Biggest fundraisers get sweet perks. Want to sleep in the fancy Doctors Cabin? It could be yours.

Interested in sponsoring a camper?
About 1 in 3 Gales Creek Campers need financial assistance to attend camp.

Despite being one of the lowest-cost resident summer camps in the United States, even among non-medical camps, Gales Creek Camp subsidized almost $60,000 in camp fees in 2018. That's only possible because of donors large and small.

Registration is filling up.
