Visit the local 'FarmHers' Market in Saint Lucia
Saint Lucia is the only country in the world named after a woman so it’s fitting that local charitable organisation Helen’s Daughters is flourishing with its aim to get more women, or ‘FarmHers’ as they are called, into agriculture. The monthly FarmHers market takes place in Castries near the cruise port where you can buy
home-grown fresh produce, goodies, jams, pepper sauces, handmade soaps and the locally produced super-food ingredient, seamoss gels. All made from the hands of a FarmHer.

La Woz Flower Festival in August
Saint Lucia celebrates the Feast of St. Rose of Lima, known as “La Rose” or “La Woz,” in creole, on August 30. This cultural event is one of the two Flower Festivals held annually in observance of Saint Lucia’s rich cultural history and heritage. The flower festivals depict a historical rivalry among communities whose members sing the virtues of their preferred flowers; La Woz or La Marguerite. La Woz members pledge their allegiance to the rose by dressing in red and creating flamboyant displays made of roses.
It is a scene steeped in tradition. La Woz is celebrated with a creole seance, where groups or communities portray a society ruled by a royal family. The king and queen, along with policemen, judges, nurses, and all other professions, dance in the streets to traditional music, played by a folk band.
