Battle of the Badges Triumphant Return!

The 2025 Battle of the Badges Law Enforcement Explorer Competition kicked off this past weekend, marking a highly anticipated return since our last event in 2019. The competition brought together eight Explorer posts from across Los Angeles County, all eager to showcase their training, teamwork, and tactical skills in a series of real-world law enforcement scenarios.

Throughout the day, Explorer teams competed in nine realistic challenges—including traffic stops, building searches, officer needs assistance calls, and more—running from early morning through the late afternoon. These scenarios tested their critical thinking, communication, and composure under pressure.

Congratulations to Post 142, the Gardena Police Explorers, for earning the Top Post award with their exceptional performance and professionalism! A big thank-you and congratulations to all of the Explorers, volunteers, and advisors whose dedication made this competition a success. Your commitment to the future of law enforcement is truly inspiring!

Congratulations to Our Camp Card Opportunity Drawing Winners!

A big thank you to all the units that participated in this year’s Camp Card fundraiser—your efforts support local Scouting and help Scouts earn their way to camp!

We’re excited to announce the winners of the April Camp Card Opportunity Drawing. Two lucky units will each receive an Amazon gift card for submitting their April payments on time.

Congratulations to:

  • Troop 407 BT & GT – San Gabriel Valley District
  • Troop 441 BT – Pio Pico District

There’s still time for your unit to get involved! The Camp Card fundraiser is a great way to raise money for summer Scout adventures, including camps, activities, and gear.

Announcing Key Participants for the

2025 Business Leaders’ Breakfast

Wednesday, June 25 | 7:00–9:00 AM

The Jonathan Club | Downtown Los Angeles

Join us for an inspiring morning alongside more than 200 of Los Angeles’ leading business, civic, and philanthropic figures at the 2025 Business Leaders’ Breakfast.

The program will feature a special fireside chat moderated by Craig S. Meyer, President of JLL Industrial Americas, offering valuable insight into the logistics and real estate sectors shaping LA’s economic future.

This year, we are proud to recognize Charlie P. Smith, Senior Managing Director at JLL, for over 25 years of outstanding leadership in real estate and his lasting impact on the Los Angeles community.

Exploring Symmetry and Science:

Pack 114 Hosts STEM Nova Award Event

Pack 114 of Arcadia recently welcomed 30 Cub Scouts from the Metropolitan, Pio Pico, and San Gabriel Valley Districts for an exciting hands-on STEM Nova award program — Fearful Symmetry.

During this math-focused adventure, Scouts explored the fascinating world of symmetry through a variety of activities.

They investigated:

  • Lines of symmetry in everyday objects
  • The strength and structure of molecules based on symmetrical design
  • The cultural significance and symmetry of Litema patterns from South African art
  • The intricate geometry of snowflakes

As a bonus challenge, each Scout created and studied a Möbius strip — a one-sided, three-dimensional shape — unlocking a fun and mind-bending introduction to concepts behind intergalactic travel!

Stay tuned for more STEM events from Greater Los Angeles Scouting coming this summer — adventure and discovery await!
