Final Concert of Music@BCM's Series is Aug. 15
Music@BCM will end its 2019 season with a high-energy dance party.

The Company, with dynamic Ramona Blaine singing, will bring the best dance music of the past four decades to the Behringer-Crawford Museum stage for the last concert of the summer on Thursday, August 15.

The Company, founded in 2011 by Blaine and Paul Kindt, has become one of the most in-demand bands in the area, performing at restaurants, clubs, hotels, festivals and stadiums around the region. It is a favorite with local brides and has been inducted into The Knot’s Hall of Fame with five “Best of Weddings’ citations.

The band, which also includes Pete Bodde on guitar, BJ Brown and, Iva Durand on keys and vocals, Carleton Tolliver on bass and vocals, Phil Tipton on drums, and sound engineer Joe Fink, performs covers of everything from Chaka Khan and Michael Jackson to Maroon 5 and Rihanna.

The Company concert will take place in Behringer-Crawford Museum’s outdoor amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road – Devou Park, Covington KY 41011. Doors open at 6 p.m. with refreshments available for sale and the concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Concert-goers are invited to bring folding chairs or blankets for seating. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will move indoors. Guests are encouraged to check the museum’s website, www.bcmuseum.org, or call 859-491-4003 to confirm the schedule.
 
Admission is $5 for adults and free for children age 12 and under, who can participate in a new Kids’ Music Club offering free children’s activities during the concert.  This week, children are invited to make their own rattlesnakes! Reservations are requested for the Kids’ Club: call 491-4003. Concert-goers who ride their bikes to Music@BCM are admitted free, courtesy of the Devou Good Project. Parking is free. Adult beverages are available for purchase. Attendees can also purchase food by Colonial Cottage of Erlanger, KY, supporting local community organizations.

Kids Can Shake, Rattle & Roll!
Music@BCM Kids Music Club
No sitter? No problem! Children 12 and under can attend a FREE Kids Music Club during the final Music@BCM performance of the summer.

Miss Kaity will be showing youngsters how to make their own maracas and rattlesnakes. Then they will play tic tac toe trivia. The night will end with popcorn and a song.

An adult must be present to sign child in and out during the evening. Reservations are requested for the Kids Club: call 491-4003.
Brown Bag Luncheon:
Redware, Our Pioneer Pottery by Greg Shooner
Thursday, August 15, noon
Redware refers to a utilitarian style of earthenware pottery using clay with a high iron content, which turns reddish-brown when fired. Greg Shooner of Shooner American Redware in Oregonia, OH, creates fine, authentic redware with warm tones and unique designs. Shooner will discuss the history of red earthenware and how it differs from other ceramics. Guests are invited to bring their own redware to discuss, identify and compare it to Shooner’s examples.

The lunch and presentation will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the BCM Education Center. Bring your own brown bag lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Cost: $3 for BCM members; $10 for future BCM members. Free parking. Reservations recommended: (859) 491-4003.
Attention silent ARTists!
silent ART Due August 17
All silent ART pieces are due at BCM, Saturday, Aug. 17, to prepare for the silent ART opening reception on Aug. 31, from 5-7 p.m., prior to the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra performance in Devou Park.

Also on display will be artwork created by local high schools students in the first annual fresh ART Connie O’Donnell Student ART Invitational. The silent ART auction and student exhibit will continue through the fresh ART auction on September 14.
Tot Tuesdays! Tooth Fairy Fun

The Tooth Fairy can turn losing a tooth into a reason to celebrate! This Tot Tuesdays! session salutes the elusive little sprite who trades molars for moolah.

Designed to help prepare preschoolers for reading readiness and socialization, Tot Tuesdays! are held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Admission is free for BCM members. For future members, cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors
60+ and $5 for children. There is a $1 craft fee per child. Free parking.

Saturday, Sept. 21
Mark your calendar! September 21 is Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, when participating museums, including Behringer-Crawford Museum, will offer free admission for two to anyone who presents a Museum Day ticket.
