Happy Summer!

I hope you are all able to enjoy some sweet summer vibes and find a bit of time to recharge and relax over the next couple of months. ARCK teachers are taking some time to decompress and debrief after another great year. This year, we have all witnessed the important role ARCK plays in shifting the educational paradigm to prioritize creative thinking, social-emotional wellness, academic growth, social awareness, and equity. A huge thank you to our incredible teaching team, Meredith Charles, Audra Keefe, Maria Palkon, Sammy Sass, and Emily Santiago-Preachers, for making this year possible and contributing to ARCK’s continued success!

In the office, we are still hard at work and have some exciting team updates. We’ve welcomed Erin Roberts, our new Director of Creative Programs, who has hit the ground running already establishing new program connections. We are also excited to announce that our talented Teaching Artist Maria Palkon, has been promoted to Lead Teacher and is working to ensure our team is prepared and ready for the fall.

I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the Boston Speaks Up podcast, where I was able to share my founder's story with host Zach Servideo. It was a great honor and a wonderful opportunity to share my vision and passion for ARCK.

Looking forward to exciting new opportunities in the coming school year!

With creativity and gratitude,
Sara Mraish Demeter

ARCK IN THE MEDIA
Sara recently spoke with Zach Servideo on the Boston Speaks Up podcast. She discussed growing up in Jordan, her inspiration to build ARCK, and her thoughts on the importance of equitable art education now and in the future.

ARCK TEAM UPDATE
We are excited to welcome Erin as ARCK’s new Director of Creative Programs. Erin is a professional theatre maker and administrator focused in civic engagement and social justice. She has served as an administrator and teaching artist for companies here in Boston as well as South Carolina, New York, and Georgia, including the acclaimed Alliance Theatre. Erin holds a BFA in Theatre from New York University and earned her MFA in Applied Theatre and Theatre Education at Emerson College. Erin recently got married and joyfully lives in Brookline with her husband and two cats. She is thrilled to join the ARCK community and continue building their incredible vision.
END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
ARCK’s Building Bridges program is designed to connect young people with BIPOC artist role models. Our 2022 Building Bridges program extended our Miles of Murals Project to new heights and new technologies, culminating in a Jumbotron display at Fenway Park. A collaboration between Blackstone students and artist Silvina Mizrahi, the digital mural was a celebration of color and shape, inspired by student artwork.
We wrapped up this project with a student celebration at Blackstone School. Students were treated to yummy pizza generously donated by Sal’s Pizza and delicious ice cream cups served from Ben & Jerry’s ice cream truck. They ate, smiled, laughed, and celebrated with Silvina and members of the ARCK team.

Thank you to Silvina Mizrahi, The Boston Red Sox, Ben & Jerry’s, Sal’s Pizza, and Blackstone Elementary School for your support in making this wonderful event happen!
ARCK'S IMPACT
One of ARCK's main Learning Goals is to increase students’ mental well-being, self-awareness, and relational skills through the arts.

According to our program assessment data for the 2021-22 school year, 86% of classroom teachers felt that students showed social-emotional growth due to ARCK’s program.
