Summer school course catalogs available this week!

Summer school in Barrington begins on Monday, June 6, 2022 for all grade levels. Course catalogs will be made available on our summer school webpage on Feb. 1. Registration for all levels will open on March 1. Please note that due to Build 220 construction happening this summer at several schools, there are a few location changes:

  • The elementary summer school program that is traditionally held at Roslyn Road Elementary will be held at Arnett C. Lines Elementary. This program serves students from Hough, Lines, North Barrington and Roslyn Road.

  • The Jump Start and Dual Language programs traditionally held at Sunny Hill Elementary will be held at BHS.

  • The middle summer school program will be held at BHS.

The elementary summer school program that is traditionally held at Barbara B. Rose Elementary WILL remain at Rose. This program serves students from Countryside, Grove, Sunny Hill and Rose.
Feb. 1 Board of Education meeting moved to Jan. 31
Please note, the Barrington 220 Board of Education meeting scheduled for February 1 has been moved to Monday, Jan. 31 at 6pm at the District Administrative Center. Click here to view the agenda. As always, you can view the livestream of the meeting by visiting the Board's YouTube channel.
Kindergarten Roundup is Tuesday, Feb. 1
Do you have a child entering kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year? Our elementary principals will be holding in-person information sessions on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 6:30pm at your neighborhood elementary school. If you plan to attend, please fill out this form.
BHS musical tickets on sale now!
The BHS Fine Arts Department proudly presents Mamma Mia! the musical, playing Feb. 24-27 at BHS. This jukebox musical features hits from the wildly popular ‘70s Swedish pop/dance group ABBA. Click here to purchase tickets!
Parent University: Math in Focus
Please join us for an elementary Parent University, "Supporting Your Elementary Child in Mathematics". Susan Resnick, author and researcher, will share valuable information about Math in Focus: Singapore Math, our district math program, as well as practical ideas for assisting your child at home. The Parent University is happening on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6:30pm. You can attend in-person at the District Administrative Center, which is open to the first 50 people who register, or watch via a livestream. Click here to register!
In January the Board of Education approved bids for a portion of the BHS Build 220 projects. An estimated total of $62 million out of the $147 million referendum will be spent at BHS, which includes all construction costs and non-construction items such as safety and security, furniture and technology. Construction is set to begin this spring, starting with the relocation of the tennis courts, the addition of a multipurpose turf field and updates to the baseball and Fields of Dreams complex.

This year all students in grades 4 through 12 and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. Special Olympics basketball game at BHS
Come support the Barrington 220 Special Olympics Basketball team at its annual match up against Hersey! Special education students in grades 3-12 and the Barrington Transition Program will be playing against Hersey in the BHS gym on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds go to the Barrington 220 Special Olympics Program. Tickets are FREE for students and staff with ID.
BHS grad nominated to represent USA at Olympics
Congratulations to Casey Larson (BHS '17) on being nominated by USA Nordic Sport to represent Team USA at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing for Ski Jumping! This will be Casey’s 2nd Olympic Winter Games. Nominations are to be confirmed by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee when it formally announces the U.S. Olympic Team.
Learn the history of the BHS Boys Basketball Program
Do you know which BHS boys basketball captain went on to win a Super Bowl with the Chicago Bears? Learn the answer to this interesting fact and more in a historical booklet about the BHS Boys Basketball Program, compiled by BHS Athletic Director Mike Obsuszt. BHS is accepting donations of $25 or more to receive a copy. All proceeds will go toward the ONE FUND, which provides BHS students in need with basic necessities that will improve their high school experience. BHS teacher participating in "Dancing with the Barrington Stars"
Come support Hagop Soulakian, BHS Business INCubator teacher, as he and his wife take the dance floor in Dancing with the Barrington Stars! This annual event organized by the Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA) will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7pm at Elgin Community College Arts Center. Click here for tickets and information.
Save the Date: BCGT February Wisdom Program
The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) is holding a virtual February Monthly Wisdom Program, "STEM Forward with Tech Leaders". The discussion will feature Joe Intrakamhang, Senior Data Science and Machine Learning Manager at Google, Anu Pillai, Chief Technology Officer at Direct Digital Holdings, and Vince Curley, Head of Services and Operations in Engineering at Minecraft. The event will take place on February 24 at 7pm. The registration link will be be made available here on Feb. 1.

The Healthier Barrington Coalition is a partnership of 25 local groups working to improve the quality of life in the Barrington area by assessing the needs of community members and addressing concerns through partnership and collaboration.
