NEW VIDEO: Culinary Arts Lab at BHS

The 3,000-square-foot Culinary Arts Lab at BHS consists of two kitchens with professional-grade equipment. Each student cooking station has a range that includes a stovetop, oven, grill top, and flat top. In addition, the space includes an AV system that enables cameras to project what is happening at the teacher's cooking station on TV screens throughout the lab. The Barrington 220 Educational Foundation granted the district $111,000 to fund equipment, supplies, and other materials to develop a BHS Culinary Internship Program. The program will teach students professional culinary skills and techniques such as proper knife use, food safety, menu planning, cooking techniques, and more. Students will also learn about front-of-the-house operations like staffing, hospitality management, the economics of food, and marketing. Check out the video above, which was filmed by BHS-TV!

Join us for a secondary arts showcase at the Barrington White House

Take the 5Essentials Survey

This year all students in grades 4 through 12, as well as teachers and parents across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. Please note, Barrington 220 is under the Lake County Regional Office of Education, therefore parents must select Lake County to find your school. This applies even if a school is not located in Lake County. Click here to take the survey.
