Summer school registration is now open!
Summer school in Barrington 220 begins on Monday, June 5, 2023 for all grade levels. The registration link is now available on our summer school webpage. Please note that due to Build 220 construction happening this summer at several schools, there are a few location changes:

  • The high school academic summer school program will be held at Station Campus. Please note, BHS Athletic Camps will remain at BHS.

  • The middle summer school program will be held at Prairie Campus.

  • The elementary summer school program that is traditionally held at Barbara B. Rose Elementary will be held at Grove Avenue Elementary. This program serves students from Countryside, Grove, Sunny Hill and Rose.

  • The elementary summer school program that is traditionally held at Roslyn Road Elementary will remain at Roslyn. This program serves students from Hough, Lines, North Barrington and Roslyn Road.

  • The Jump Start and Dual Language programs traditionally held at Sunny Hill Elementary will be held at Sunny Hill.
Parent University: Middle School Kids in the Digital Age
Please join us for a virtual Parent University, Middle School Kids in the Digital age, on Monday, March 6 from 7pm to 8pm. During this virtual session, Barrington 220 educators will offer tips on how to support middle schoolers as they navigate the challenges and opportunities technology offers. With an emphasis on the early teenage years, topics will include: online safety, social media use, digital citizenship, and balancing screen time with other important aspects of life. 
"Join us for Java" on Monday, March 13
Join Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Hunt for coffee and conversation! Dr. Hunt is hosting two more events this school year in order to provide our community with the opportunity to learn more about what's happening in Barrington 220 and ask questions. "Join us for Java" this month on Monday, March 13 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the District Administrative Center.
Take the 5Essentials Survey
This year all students in grades 4 through 12, as well as teachers and parents, have the opportunity to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school. Please note, Barrington 220 is under the Lake County Regional Office of Education, therefore parents must select Lake County to find your school. This applies even if a school is not located in Lake County. Click here to take the survey.
Safety drill at BHS on Friday, March 24
On Friday, March 24 Barrington High School will be conducting a critical incident drill with high school staff. The drill will take place from 8am to noon. This is a non-attendance day for students. Please note, if you see emergency vehicles on campus, this is just a drill.
BHS outdoor athletic/P.E. spaces ready for students and staff this month!
There is a lot of Build 220 progress happening at Barrington High School this spring! This month newly renovated outdoor athletic and P.E. spaces will be ready for students and staff. This includes the new turf field on the north side of the building, varsity baseball field, and Fields of Dreams. In addition, this month interior renovations will begin in the P.E. and athletic wing, in order to expand the weight and cardio fitness rooms.

Work continues on the new front atrium addition, which is expected to be completed after the start of the 2023-24 school year. In addition, work continues on creating the architectural design work for a potential new fine arts center at BHS. The Board of Education is planning to tour other high school fine arts facilities this spring. Click here to learn more about Build 220 at BHS!
Hough Street construction nears completion
Construction is almost complete at Hough Street Elementary! Major projects include safety and security enhancements, a new STEM lab next to the library, and a new addition on the west side of the building. The new addition includes resource rooms and a new sensory room for students with special needs. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held this spring. Click here to learn more about Build 220 at Hough!
Ribbon cutting at Countryside Elementary
Earlier this week the district held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Build 220 construction at Countryside Elementary! Construction began this past summer. Key projects included: building one new classroom, creating a dedicated STEM lab, upgrading the existing sensory room for students with special needs, and enhancing safety and security measures. Attention D220 Staff: Apply for a PIE Grant today!
Once a year, the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation offers educators in Barrington 220 the opportunity to apply for a Project for Innovation and Enhancement (PIE) Grant. A PIE Grant provides funding for educators to implement a project that is innovative and affords students an opportunity to hone their skills, peak interest, build collaboration and bring learning to the next level. Tips for healthy mind and body for elementary and middle school students
During the second half of the 22-23 school year, student mentors from Barrington Committed, a partnership program between Broncos Committed and BStrong Together, are meeting with Barrington 220 5th grade students to speak about topics related to mental and physical health, and wellness. Scholarship opportunity for BHS students
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce awards Lauren Brown Memorial scholarships each spring to local high school students pursuing higher education through a university, community college, or vocational/trade certification program. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500. Click here to apply!
BCGT virtual Monthly Wisdom event
The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) invites all students, parents and educators to its virtual March Monthly Wisdom Program, Entrepreneur Insight, Future of Work. This will be a panel discussion featuring students from the BHS Business INCubator program and facilitated by Lydia Smyers, Vice President of US Education for Microsoft and Hannah Gronowski, Founder and CEO of Generation Distinct. The free virtual event will take place on Thursday, March 16 at 7pmClick here to register.
Safety Town registration opens April 6
The Barrington Junior Women's Club invites children entering kindergarten or 1st grade to register for Safety Town 2023! Safety Town is a week-long educational summer program, which teaches participants vital safety lessons through activities and demonstrations. An outdoor miniature town gives children a hands-on experience using safety skills while riding trikes and acting as pedestrians. Registration opens April 6. Click here to learn more.
