The OTL Celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Happy Pride Month! Interested in learning more about how to better support the LGBTQ+ community at DU? Explore the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity module of our Inclusive Teaching Practices website and read our blog, Sharing Pronouns as an Inclusive Teaching Practice. Then make sure to update your pronouns if you haven’t already!

The list of pronouns in the Banner user profile has been recently expanded to 15 unique choices. Visit MyDU to make edits to your Banner profile, and please encourage your students to do the same. If you would like to give feedback on the pronoun choices available in your Banner profile, please fill out this form. Review the OTL's Sample Syllabus Statements for language you can put in your syllabus regarding name and pronoun etiquette.

Learn more about the DU-wide programming and support available to LGBTQ+ students on the DU Cultural Center’s webpage Gender & Sexuality Initiatives.

Summer with the OTL

With the spring term coming to a close, we know you are looking forward to a much-deserved summer. Thank you for all the ways you've worked so hard for our students. We hope that your summer will be restful and restorative.

If your summer plans include taking advantage of opportunities for your own professional growth or advancing your teaching practice, the Office of Teaching and Learning will be offering several short courses and institutes--many of which carry a stipend to honor the additional work.

Will you be designing a new course for the coming academic year, or are you wanting to make big changes to an old one? The Course Design Institute, which takes place August 14-18, supports faculty in designing learning experiences that result in significant learning – that is, learning that has the potential to change students’ lives in lasting and important ways.

COIL is ultimately about building connections and new relationships with people, knowledge systems, and perspectives across numerous types of borders.
