It's hard to believe that we're in rolling into the middle of August this Saturday. Sweet corn, peaches, and tomatoes are at their prime. And it's time to start thinking about canning and preserving - capturing summer's flavors so you can visit them again on a cold winter's day. But in the meantime, there's plenty more of the market season to savor. There's no doubt that it's been a hot, steamy summer - not to mention a strange, stressful one. But that hasn't stopped y'all from shopping local every Saturday. And we know it's not always easy. We see you donning your masks, keeping your distance, standing in long lines... but still smiling and sharing a laugh with your favorite farmer. Thank you for that. Thank you for showing up, week in and week out. We see you walking the market, your face masked and your arms loaded with bundles of fresh food and bright bouquets of flowers, or sometimes a single, joyful sunflower. When we see you we see kindness, we see caring and we see the love of community.
We look forward to seeing you again this Saturday... and all through the Fall.

Baked Eggplant
From Crunchy Creamy Sweet

"Eggplant is in season and I am going to show you one of my favorite dishes with this vegetable. It’s easy and can be served as an appetizer, side dish or used in main dishes, like Eggplant Parmesan. The garlicky Parmesan breading makes for a perfectly crispy coating even though the eggplant is baked and not fried.

Teels Hill Soapworks
A Sea of Blue Soaps
|
With the combination of these soaps I can not help but think of summer by the sea. Coconut Chamomile is made with coconut milk and a blend of nut oils, macadamia, hazelnut and kukui. Clarity soap is scented with Clary Sage essential oil which has a hormone-like agent that helps to balance our stressful days. But men like the color too.Tranquility soap is tinted with aqua green and blue, scented with Vetiver and Tangerine. And lastly Roy's Kaleidosoap. This one is made with pieces of seven of other soaps and then a batch of soap scented with Ylang Ylang is poured over the pieces, giving this bar a look of sea glass.
