PEI KIDS Leads Partnership to Help Young Violence Survivors

Council Against Youth Violence campaign launches to help young victims.

July is National Make a Difference for Children Month, a perfect opportunity to start a discussion on how we can make our community a safer and more responsive one for kids impacted by violence.

This month, PEI KIDS will launch its regional campaign, PartneringToProtectFutures, encouraging everyone to play a role in being more responsive for children and youth impacted by violence.

As lead agency for the Council Against Youth Violence (CAYV), PEI KIDS delivers and coordinates targeted victims' services in collaboration with seven community-based organizations that are partners in the Council.

CAYV’s services are available for youth, 9-18 years old, and include trauma & grief/loss counseling, emergency shelter, academic support, gang intervention, anger management, drug assessment & recovery support, GED prep/testing, counseling for victims of sexual abuse, and specialized services for youth having system involvement, disabilities or complex needs. All services are provided at no cost for youth who have been victims, witnesses, or have lost a loved one to community violence.

Executive Director, Roz, Dashiell explains, "We can all do something to help our young people affected by community violence. Through this campaign, we want to ensure that families and youth-serving professionals have the knowledge and access to resources to put a struggling child on the pathway to healing and recovery."

Welcome the Newest Member of our Leadership Team

Join us in welcoming PEI KIDS' Supervisor of Community-Based Violence Intervention (CBVI) programs, Noah Possible. Noah first came to PEI KIDS in 2016 as a Bonner Scholar.

Following graduation, Noah joined our staff as part-time Program Facilitator in the Juvenile Intervention Services (JIS) department; and, last year, he was promoted to the position of Violence Interrupter working in our CBVI program serving Trenton's middle schools. This month, Noah came onboard full-time as Supervisor in the JIS department where he will manage a team of (6) Violence Interrupters serving Trenton's middle schools and the Ninth-Grade Academy for the 2023-24 schoolyear.

Please join us in making Noah feel like a welcome member of our PEI KIDS family!
