Calendar & Events
Hopefully, the weather will soon start warming up for our DayBreak summertime fun! Our outings this month include Java Music Club with our friends at LQH (6th), swimming at the Woodland Aquatic Center (7th), Sack Lunch Serenade in CS (13th), Art Walk at Park State Bank (17th), Farmers Market & Picnic in the Park (21st), and "Apollo" at the Library. Let us know if you'd like to join us for any of these special trips - the more the merrier!!! As always, the Caregiver Support Group will meet the first Tuesday of the month (Tomorrow ~ June 4th) at 4:30 in the Colorado Room on the 3rd floor at the Woodland Park Public Library - ask Paula for more information about this group and feel free to bring a friend.
Beginning in June, DayBreak will extend its hours of operation, now opening from 8am to 6pm. "It has been difficult for the working caregiver to make our old hours of operation work with their 9 to 5 schedule," states Paula Levy, Executive Director. DayBreak's team members are flexing their work schedules to accommodate the new time table. Please contact Paula
for more details.

We also have plenty of sunscreen and sun hats available.
Let the games begin!!!
Book Review:
Encouraging Words to
Strengthen Your Spirit
by Peter Rosenberger
"If you love somebody, you will be a caregiver. If you live long enough, you'll need one." Peter Rosenberger

In a world hung up on trying to make sense out of hard time, Peter drives the point home that "We don't have to understand -- God understands, and that's enough. He is enough -- He is always enough." Peter leads reader through such painful situations with humor and practical help -- and in the process, our faith is strengthened. This is THE book for caregivers, written by one with scars and immense credibility.

  About Ourselves
The Mountain View Marthas are a service organization at Mountain View United Methodist Church. We meet monthly to plan and execute service projects as well as support and pray for our church congregation and members of our group. Our Mission is to be the hands and feet of Christ, serving our church, community and the world. Some of our projects include making Blessing Bags of water, snack food, and other miscellaneous items to be distributed to the homeless, street dwellers in Colorado Springs and Teller County. We have recently expanded to making Blessing Bags for homeless women in Teller County. Each year we fill and mail College/Military Care boxes for our family and friends. We also serve our congregation in both food preparation, set up/clean up, and organizing events such as the Sunday School Teachers Appreciation Luncheon, meals, craft preparation, and volunteer assistance to our Vacation Bible School classes for youth. In the past two years we have volunteered at the DayBreak facility by bringing salads, desserts, and side dishes for a Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Tea, and Mothers Day tea/luncheon. We have enjoyed making simple craft gifts for DayBreak in addition to conversing and socially with the participants, staff, and their other volunteers at these events.
What Brought You to DayBreak and Why One of our members met Paula Levy two years ago who invited us to participate in a Thanksgiving lunch feast at the DayBreak house. As a result we have developed a community partnership giving us the opportunity to both serve and socialize with the participants and staff. We have expanded our partnership to include a Christmas Tea, and Mothers Day Tea/luncheon.
