Parenting Moments
presented by Healthier Urban Families at Wayne State University
JULY 2020
The month of June was very challenging! The nation was affected and impacted by George Floyd's death and the resulting protests. The Healthier Urban Families Program supports racial equality and social justice. We believe that Black lives, including those of children and families matter. In this edition we have included articles addressing the impact of the media on parents and children and how to strike a balance between being informed and overwhelmed. This month's parenting guide addresses the role that African American parents play in instilling racial identity and pride in their children. I hope that you find this information helpful.
