I learned that many within the peer workforce are experiencing increasing feelings of tokenization. It reminded me that we peer workers have always had to pave our own path, and even for those of us who have worked hard to be recognized as experts through our own lived experiences, there is still a continued call to action. Lately at ShelterCare Medical Respite:

Shout out to the Kaiser Permanente Community Health team, who visited and toured our Medical Respite site! Kaiser wants to remind everyone that, "health happens far beyond the walls of a clinic. A safe, stable place to live can make all the difference."

Thank you to this amazing group of volunteers from Baker Tilly! They were recently on site at ShelterCare Medical Respite, taming the blackberry bushes around the outdoor storage shed, which were about six feet high! Now there isn't a bramble in sight!

Thanks to everyone who attended our Trivia Night fundraiser!

We raised over $10,000 to support ShelterCare's programs providing housing and mental health services to our community.
