Roadtripping Kentucky in 30 Days
Horses, Black Barns, Bourbon and so much More!
Well Kentucky, you have won my heart! In the 30-something days of traveling the roads, I have fallen in love with your state. There is so much beauty everywhere, including in the folks I encountered throughout my journeys.

There is a slogan I learned while I traveled the highways and byways - Kentucky Proud. It is a slogan created by the Department of Agriculture. These words continued to be in my thoughts during my travels throughout the state. Many times I was asked by the residents, what I thought of their state. My response was, "Kentucky Proud. The folks of Kentucky are so proud of their state and what it has to offer to its residents and visitors."

Thank you for an unforgettable journey, and I will return someday.

Daniel Boone - The Founding Father of Kentucky
In the spring of 1775, a frontiersman named Daniel Boone, entered the uncharted wilderness today known as the State of Kentucky. He was the first explorer and frontiersman who traveled beyond the western borders of the 13 colonies. Daniel blazed a trail known as the Boone Trace. Over 200,000 settlers followed that trail establishing multiple settlements along the way. Daniel's has an impressive history we all should admire. He was a militia officer in the Revolutionary War. He was captured by the Shawnees and was adopted into the tribe. When told about his Legacy, Daniel responded, "Many heroic actions and chivalrous adventures are related of me which exist only in the regions of fancy. With me the world has taken great liberties, and yet I have been but a common man." History books, fictional books and a six-year (165 episodes) television series continue to keep Daniel Boone alive in the hearts of the young and old throughout the word. A true frontiersman of the of America.

Good ole' Abe Lincoln is everywhere in Kentucky. Recently, I found him in a bourbon distillery. A limited bourbon has been released in the honor of his birthday. What makes this so unique is every cork is partially made with the very elements of an old oak tree located within 150 yards of the cabin Abe was born in over 200 years ago. The photo shows a slice of that exact tree. Boundry Hill Distillery is located next to Red Hill Cutlery and Museum which offers the chance to stand next to the 'Largest Pocket Knife in the World'.
