This necessary discussion on the intersection of neurodivergence and bullying asks essential questions including: What happens when the people entrusted to care for our kids and prevent bullying look the other way? What can parents do? This interview is about the quest to find out why so many American schools are ill-equipped to deal with issues like learning differences, bullying, and mental health.
Anxiety seems to be everywhere in today's world. Dr. Dan and Dr. Marks talk about the answers to questions such as: How can we take control of our anxiety? How can we take control of our life? What can we do to fix anxiety issues for ourselves? How can we help our anxious kids?
Renowned therapist Dr. Tracey Marks is a YouTube star known for her friendly, relatable style – she helps over 1 million followers on her YouTube channel identity and manage health issues with practical solutions.
The G Word Documentary: Gifted/Talented/Neurodiverse Awareness Week with Marc Smolowitz
Dr. Dan and award-winning filmmaker Marc Smolowitz discuss Gifted/Talented/Neurodiverse Awareness Week and the documentary The G Word, directed and produced by Marc. Their conversation reveals that bright, neurodiverse children are everywhere –Gifted/Talented/ Neurodiverse learners exist in every zip code. Marc defies popular myths that assume most gifted people are wealthy, white, and will do fine on their own – and asks us to do the same.
Dr. Dan and Marc talk about many issues on this revealing episode while raising GTN awareness to a wider audience to "better address the education needs of the gifted…and how our country supports the needs of all children; a rising tide that lifts all boats where we uncover and encourage excellence in places we don’t typically expect."
Kids, "Active Commuting" and Long-Term Fitness with Robin DeWeese, Ph.D.
Dr. Dan talks to Robin DeWeese, Ph.D. of Arizona State University about her recently released, timely, and important study about kids, fitness, health, and “active commuting." The main finding: Kids who walk, skateboard or ride their bikes to school when they are young are more likely to keep it up as they get older, reaping the health benefits. In the study, the researchers found that kids are much more likely to continue "active commuting" (traveling by foot, bike or even skateboard) if they are taught to do it when they are young.
This episode gives parents a great plan to start “active commuting” with their children and offers a great discussion about healthy fitness habits that parents and families can easily embrace with young children.
Dr. Dan interviews Dr. Charles Sophy, psychiatrist and the former medical director for the County of Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services. Dr. Sophy has been a regular on Dr. Phil for the last twenty years and now he brings his experience and expertise to his new book, Family Values, continuing his work on repairing parent-child relationships.
On this episode and in his new book, Dr. Sophy explains that a parent with a balanced life, both physically and mentally, is a better parent – a parent more equipped to be a loving and healthy role model for their child. Dr. Dan agrees that we owe it to our children to be the best possible version of ourselves every day.

"There are some people who can tolerate not knowing those answers.
And distract themselves and keep moving toward something else — even if
in the back of their head they know that this horrible thing could happen but 'I’m still going to get up and go to work.' Versus the person who is more intolerant of that kind of uncertainty and
can react by worrying, what iffing, ruminating about negative situations, being very disturbed by it. And trying to overcontrol their lives."
