Sumter County Relaunches Veterans Memorial
Brick Program

Sumter County is reinstituting its Veterans Memorial Brick Program at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, which is located at the Sumter County Courthouse, 215 E. McCollum Ave., Bushnell.

Memorial bricks can be purchased to commemorate U.S. veterans – past or current – to be placed t the Veteran’s Memorial Park. A Veteran’s Day ceremony will take place next year to commemorate the placement. Bricks must be purchased by June 30, 2024 to allow for engraving and placement at Memorial Park.

“The Veterans Service Office is excited to assist in re-initiating the Sumter County Memorial Brick Program providing individuals the opportunity to purchase and dedicate a military brick as a means to honor or remember our service men and women,” said Kristen Montejo, Veterans Service manager.

One such program is the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP). SHIP funds will be awarded for down payment and closing costs to assist eligible first-time home buyers with the purchase of a newly constructed or existing site built home.
