REOPENING UPDATE FOR SUN NOV 14
Guidelines for CUUC Building and Grounds
The fall weather has steadily advanced toward predictably cooler temperatures. Effective this Sun Nov 14, we are ALL coming inside for worship service and Religious Education (adults, youth, and children). Below are the current guidelines for access to our building and grounds.
Tracy Breneman will be distributing a separate update, “Important Highlights for Families,” to the RE community.
- RE will be making the transition indoors, and may be using Fellowship Hall, the classrooms, and the northeast lobby on any given Sunday.
- Our current risk level requires that we maintain a vaccination requirement for anyone participating in service, for the safety of vaccinated congregants and in recognition of high-risk categories and ongoing concerns about breakthrough infections. Per this policy, we’re trying to limit vaccinated individuals to the sanctuary and lobby before and after the service.
- The sanctuary and lobby are designated “vaccinated zones.” Individuals with the blue dot affixed to name tags are welcome to enter through the sanctuary lobby doors. Our “blue dot vaccination label system” will be extended to children and youth as well, so that it’s clear when any vaccinated individual can safely access the sanctuary and lobby area after service.
- Unvaccinated individuals are asked to enter through the RE lobby doors and remain in the RE wing.
- We encourage the use of the ADA bathroom facilities for vaccinated individuals, and the RE wing bathroom facilities for unvaccinated individuals.
- We remind parents of small children (grades K-5) of the requirement to pick up your family member in Fellowship Hall as soon as services are finished. Older children and youth are dismissed from Fellowship Hall at 11:20 and those vaccinated may make their way over to the sanctuary lobby to meet their parents. Unvaccinated youth will remain in Fellowship Hall, awaiting pick-up by their parents.
-
As part of our congregational covenant with our children and RE, please make the first question you ask yourself when encountering any of our children trying to connect with their parents, “How can I personally help connect this child with their parent in a safe way?”
- Finally, please remember there is no coffee hour after services, and all are encouraged to leave the building and continue conversations outside.
Thanks to one and all for their patience and understanding as we continue to navigate our emergence from Covid-19 – together. “Sticking together” matters, for the sake of what we have lovingly built and sustained together.
