Building on a reputation for excellence earned over 11 years of developing data communication and cybersecurity standards for solar PV and storage systems, the SunSpec Alliance is now also a marketing platform.

For the past six months, SunSpec and 15 SunSpec-member companies have pooled resources and worked together to promote SunSpec Rapid Shutdown Certified products as interoperable, plug-and-play solutions to meet safety requirements mandated in the 2017 National Electrical code. Nearly every week, at least one SunSpec-member company has been featured in a news article, referenced in a podcast, appeared in social media, or performed in a webinar to highlight the value of SunSpec Certified interoperability solutions.

In the DER system-to-utility communication space, other SunSpec-member companies have teamed up to deliver complete solutions. The latest example is the Obvius/OpenEGrid SunSpec-Modbus-to-IEEE-2030.5 solution described in Member News below.

SunSpec itself is also in partnering mode. We are happy to announce that our relationship with the MESA Alliance now includes SunSpec Certification for containerized energy storage. This is a strategic move for SunSpec as it allows SunSpec members to participate in "front-of-the-meter" and utility-scale applications. On the security front, we've teamed up with Energy Web Foundation to advance energy blockchain standards like the one being developed in the SunSpec Blockchain Workgroup. Finally, in some late-breaking news, we are happy to announce our partnership with the Solar and Energy Storage Association of Puerto Rico (SESA) and our participation in the SunCast PR event in October.

As you make plans for 2021, please consider SunSpec as your marketing partner. Please put us in touch with your marketing team so that we can help them take advantage of your member benefits (including placing stories in this newsletter at no charge--it reaches an audience of 10,000+!) and grow the market for your company's products and services.

Thanks again for your participation and support,
Tom Tansy
