Suddenly it's September and there are hints of color in the tree tops. Before we all fall into Autumn routines, suggest one more summer time 'fling'! A picnic with friends. An afternoon nap in the hammock. A dip in the lake. With a bit of luck, we'll enjoy a few more hot summer days and cool breezes with visions of summertime, still in our heads, before trees shed their leaves. PS... remember to check out the spectacular eclipse of the full red moon this weekend. | | | | |

The "Knowlton House", a Queen Anne style house, was built in Sunapee in 1890 by philanthropist Moses Knowlton, a prominent local businessman. The house was built on the site of an 1851 home purchased by Moses' wife, Lucy, and was designed by architect Hira A. Beckwith to overlook the harbor. The original 1851 house was divided and moved to create tenements, making the property part of Moses Knowlton's larger estate, which also included cottage lots he sold. The Knowlton House has since served as a home, guest house, and farm before becoming the Lake Sunapee Protective Association (LSPA) environmental center in 2008.
