A Winter's Tale...

THIS WEEK: DAVE CLARK & ROB OXFORD  
Singing two part harmonies with their own style and energy, from songs you will remember fondly, “Oxford & Clark” make an entertaining duo performing Americana music made famous by entertainers like: Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Roger Miller, The Kingston Trio, The Everly Brothers and many more.

Rob Oxford and Dave Clark have been performing in the tri-state area since they met in 2012 at a performance venue in Quechee, VT. With their upbeat unique on-stage personalities and tight harmonies they draw you into their performance for an experience you are sure to remember and enjoy.

Some places they have performed are: The NH Building at the Eastern States Expo, Quechee Balloon Festival, Glory Days of the Railroad, Bedford NH town concert series and many more.

Sierra & Andrew are a musical duo from Plum Island, MA. The duo unites soulful vocals and dynamic guitar work for a wide-ranging repertoire of original and cover songs. Sierra & Andrew have been writing and performing together for 10 years, and they comprise half of the original rock band, Unnamed Colors.

Paraphrasing the ages old typing drill proposed by instructor Charles E. Weller and documented in his “Early History of the Typewriter” published in 1918. Whether your town adheres to a traditional Town Meeting or the newer SB2 voting protocol, now is indeed the time to become involved and volunteer to serve on one of the many town, school or library boards & committees. Every community depends on residents to help with governance by lending their time & expertise in service for the good of all. 

Call your Town Hall/ Clerk’s office or check the town website for board & committee openings find the one best suited to your interest & skills and submit an application to serve in that office.

Monday, January 27th from 5 ~ 6 pm. Sunapee School Board members of the Capital Improvement Committee (CIP) will be hosting a Q & A session regarding the current Sunapee School District projects at the Abbott Library.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

HISTORY TRIVIA
On this day, January 22nd in 1929 .. Congress passed legislation making “Prohibition” the law of the land, declaring the United States a “dry country”! On December 5, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt announced the 21st Amendment was ratified, ending Prohibition. 

1930 .. Groundbreaking for the Empire State Building. Construction on the tallest building in the world was completed in a record 410 days! 

1938: “Our Town”, Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer prize play about small town life in Grover’s Corner NH premiered on stage.

1968: The Apollo Lunar Module was launched to the moon!
