A Visionary Bridge of Wholeness
The Vision from the Apostle Peter

“Bacon, bacon, bacon! Everybody loves bacon!” It’s a common and frequent statement amongst meat-eaters. And it’s a declaration of celebration and liberty for many of us! Yet, centuries ago, within the Christian movement it was an inflammatory statement, and a very divisive position. Many of us take for granted the shift of awareness and the evolution which took place almost 2,000 years ago amongst those who follow the teachings and the life of the Master Teacher Jesus, a group of people who were practicing Jews. In the book of scripture known as the Acts of the Apostles, the Apostle Peter received a vision of all different kinds of animals, along with a direction to eat them. Is it possible that the vision was more than simply a permission slip to now enjoy bacon?
In Unity we see the scriptures as revelation that applies to our lives today, not just an account of events that took place in history, but a real and actual way of pointing to our spiritual awakening. In Unity we take the Bible too seriously, to only take it literally.
Join us this Sunday to consider the ways that sacred stories apply to our lives today in the here and now. Join with us to consider that the relationship we have with a God who never changes is in consistent evolution. Scripture is not merely a flashpoint for determining the “members of the club,” but stories to use in our lives that create healing, wholeness, and most importantly love.
