Weekly Bible Quiz

Topic: “The Light of the World”

Fact: When Jesus was born, Mary "wrapped him in cloths" (Luke 2:7). Jewish mothers believed that if they wrapped up their babies firmly in bandages, then the baby's limbs would grow straight.

Quiz Question:  Which Old Testament book has a verse in it which is taken as a prophecy about the birth place of Jesus?

Email your answer

to: [email protected].

The correct responses will be recognized in the following week's Bible quiz.

The answer to the previous question is: "John's gospel," and Rose Gitter and Norlyn Swenson responded correctly! The previous quiz question was: "Which Gospel opens with the words, 'In the beginning was the Word...'?"

Laughing with Lutherans

My 3-rear-old son last Christmas said, "Mom, let's sing the door song." Puzzled, I asked him to sing a bit of it. He sang, "O Come let us adore him."

Luther & The Reformation

This Sunday at 10:45 a.m. will be the last session before Christmas. The sessions will resume on Sunday, January 14 and will conclude on January 28.

Centuries after his death, Martin Luther is celebrated as an intellectual giant; a man who stood against popes and emperors in defense of the gospel. He was a brave opponent of the corruption that had infiltrated the Roman Catholic church. Indeed he was a shaper of culture and one of the most significant figures in Western history. Plan to attend this study series that includes a 23 minute video followed with discussion and learn what led Luther to make a courageous stance for the gospel in the 16th

century. "Here I stand; I can do no other."

Advent Wall Panels

During the four Sundays of Advent we see the prophecy of the birth of Christ unfold in the form of Charity's Advent panels/banners. Come and see the third panel this Sunday as the the stump of Jesse and the barren desert will sprout and bloom as depicted in the Old Testament book of Isaiah.

Sorrow will give way to joy, war will be replaced by peace and God will give his people the ultimate sign: a virgin shall conceive and bear a son.
