Weekly Bible Quiz

Topic: “The Light of the World”

Fact: Jesus was circumcised, as were all other Jewish male babies, on the eighth day after his birth. This Jewish custom dated back to Abraham's time: "You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant" (Genesis 17:11-12).

Quiz Question:  What was the name of the devout and righteous man who met Jesus in the temple when he was circumcised?

Email your answer

to: [email protected].

The correct responses will be recognized in the following week's Bible quiz.

The answer to the previous question is: "Isaiah 7:14," and Nancy Jensen responded correctly! The previous quiz question was: "Which Old Testament book has a verse in it which is taken as a prophecy that Jesus would be born of a virgin?"

Laughing with Lutherans

From the Memorial Lutheran Church, St. Augustine, Florida, bulletin regarding the Christmas program:

"Special thanks to the choir and Sunday schoolers for the special music and to Melissa G. for making the little beasts' costumes."

Luther & The Reformation

The sessions will resume on Sunday, January 14 and will conclude on January 28.

Centuries after his death, Martin Luther is celebrated as an intellectual giant; a man who stood against popes and emperors in defense of the gospel. He was a brave opponent of the corruption that had infiltrated the Roman Catholic church. Indeed he was a shaper of culture and one of the most significant figures in Western history. Plan to attend this study series that includes a 23 minute video followed with discussion and learn what led Luther to make a courageous stance for the gospel in the 16th

century. "Here I stand; I can do no other."

Sunday Bulletin and Monthly Newsletter

You can see Sunday's service bulletin with the red link above, and you can also see Charity's January newsletter online with the blue link above. Take advantage of this online option each week.

Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne translates "old long since" or, less literally, "long long ago", "days gone by", "times long past" or "old times". Consequently, "For auld lang syne", as it appears in the first line of the chorus, might be loosely translated as "for the sake of old times".

Whether it's on New Year's Eve, or any other time, may you gather with old friends, reminiscing and "take a cup o’ kindness yet" for Auld Lang Syne!

Annual Meeting of the Voter's Assembly

All Charity members who are voting disciples are encouraged to attend the Annual Meeting of the Voters' Assembly following the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, January 7. The 2024 budget, along with nominees for the Vision Council, Trust Fund Committee, and the Nominating Committee will be voted on.
