Shadowland Grief's Journey

Begins February 7th

'The pain now is part of the happiness then.' C.S. Lewis

A study for learning and sharing with others, in order to find God's plan in your journey through grief.

If you are interested in Shadowlands, please contact our administrator: bbulleman@resurrectionsurfside.org

Description

Shadowlands is an eight-week class that provides a Christian perspective on the journey from loss to a restored sense of peace and joy.

In the context of a safe, confidential small group, you will learn about God's model of grieving, coping skills for difficult emotions, and insights into the effect of a loss on all areas of life. Loss is experienced in many forms: the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, a life-changing illness, an accident, or death, to name a few. If you are experiencing grief in any form, you are welcome to join our fellowship.

What is Grief?

  • The conflict between what we want and the reality of what we have.
  • The desire to change yesterday when that is not possible.

What is Recovery?

  • Learning to live a "new normal."
  • A choice you make.
  • It takes time and effort and does not come with a "how to" book.

What can you expect?

  • A safe place to struggle
  • Acceptance of where you are in your grief.
  • Hope for the future.
Parent & Kids Corner

Parents,

It was so great to be back together and get back into our lessons after a special activity last week! I also was so proud and enjoyed watching everyone get dressed up and stand in front of the church on Christmas Eve!

We began this week's lesson with a game of Simon Says, except we had to do everything in sets of 3. We were able to trick each other a few times but overall we were VERY good at this game. We used sets of three for our directions to lead us into a discussion of Jesus asking Peter something three times. While watching our video clip we were reminded how the disciples turned away from Jesus when he was arrested but he still wanted to use them In God's plan. He planned to use them as fishers of men to tell people the good news of Jesus.

Use the following questions to review our lesson:

  1. Peter sinned but Jesus forgave him, how does Jesus forgive our sins?
  2. How can we make things right with others who wrong us?
  3. Jesus told Peter to take care of his sheep, what job has Jesus given us today?

Have a great week!

~Ms. Heidi

Daily Worship

The Trinity Mission works to make ancient Christian formation more accessible to the modern believer. Since January 1st, 2013 we have been providing the Audio Daily Office and other prayer podcasts. We also offer various print resources for use in the home as well as online and print resources for local parishes to use in their work of forming their community around a habit of daily prayer and meditation on the Scriptures.

About the Church of the Resurrection

The Church of the Resurrection (COR) is a church community whose life is centered in Jesus Christ and whose identity is shaped by the Word of God. We trace our history to the New Testament church, but our local life began, when our church was founded. By tradition a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, The Church of the Resurrection (COR) belongs to the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina. We worship God together as a church family using forms of worship that are both traditional and contemporary, always in conformity to Anglican standards in the historic Book of Common Prayer. We are, first and foremost, followers of Jesus Christ.
