Part III of Unity’s Wisdom of the Awakened Series:
All Shall Be Well: The Mystical Revelations of Julian of Norwich

Part III of our Wisdom series invites participants into the extraordinary spiritual world of one of Christianity’s most profound and hopeful voices. Living in fourteenth-century England during times of plague, political upheaval, and social uncertainty, Julian of Norwich experienced a series of sixteen mystical visions during a near-fatal illness in 1373. These visions later became Revelations of Divine Love, the earliest surviving book in English written by a woman. Through her reflections on suffering, divine compassion, and human vulnerability, Julian developed a theology centered on God’s unconditional love—summed up in her famous assurance, “All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”
This course explores Julian’s life as an anchoress, her historical context during the Black Death, and the enduring spiritual insights found in her writings. Participants will engage her powerful imagery—including the beloved vision of creation as something as small and fragile as a hazelnut sustained by divine love—and reflect on her revolutionary portrayal of God as both nurturing and merciful. Through guided discussion, reflection, and multimedia learning, participants will discover how Julian’s message speaks to contemporary questions about suffering, hope, and spiritual resilience in uncertain times.
