Weekly Bible Quiz

Topic: “The Light of the World”

Fact: In his Gospel, Mark portrays Jesus as the active and obedient Servant of God. Jesus' constant obedience is seen in the 47 occurrences in Mark's Gospel of the Greek word euthus, which means "immediately," "at once."

Quiz Question:  What are the first recorded words of Jesus in Mark's Gospel?

Email your answer

to: [email protected].

The correct responses will be recognized in the following week's Bible quiz.

The answer to the previous question is: "Nathanael." Nancy Jensen, Norlyn Swenson, and Rose Gitter responded correctly! The previous quiz question was: "In the Gospel of John, who asked, 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?'?"

Laughing with Lutherans

The rash of Christmas specials on television had to have influenced our 8-year-old granddaughter who during the opening hymn sang "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a Grinch like me."

Luther & The Reformation

Resumes on Sunday, January 21 with Lesson 7 on Justification.

Centuries after his death, Martin Luther is celebrated as an intellectual giant; a man who stood against popes and emperors in defense of the gospel. He was a brave opponent of the corruption that had infiltrated the Roman Catholic church. Indeed he was a shaper of culture and one of the most significant figures in Western history. Plan to attend this study series that includes a 23 minute video followed with discussion and learn what led Luther to make a courageous stance for the gospel in the 16th

century. "Here I stand; I can do no other."

Ministry Team Application Form

If you have a passion for a ministry that falls within the mission and vision of Charity, you can fill out this New Ministry Application Form to get it started. If you're leading a current ministry, you may also complete it to formalize the existing ministry.

Charity's Visitation ministry needs volunteers to help with: 1) hospital visits; 2) nursing home visits; and 3) home-bound visits. There is support available for training and names of those needing a visit. Another ministry that's been asked about is a Community Service ministry that can regularly schedule service projects for individuals or groups, e.g. Dream Center; Soup Cafe; other special projects. If you have serving on your heart, please pray about it and consider organizing a ministry team.
