CHURCH ON THE HOOCH
Pastor Ben will lead us in the first service of the season at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 6. If you're traveling by car, bring your lawn chairs to the Boy Scouts' Camp Lumpkin at 2818 Antioch Road. If you're visiting by boat, come to Camp Lumpkin's shores almost across from Highland Marina between buoys 50 and 51 on West Point Lake (close GPS coordinates: 33.0600 and -85.1427). Pastor Ben will lead us in a special "Blessing of the Boats" to kick off the season! Church On The Hooch continues each Sunday through August 8. We can't offer a worship opportunity of this magnitude without the help of volunteers, so if you can lend a hand, please contact Mike Wilson.

Our Reopening Plan
Just a reminder that you no longer have to register for our 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship services! We are still being cautious to protect each other, and we ask if you have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home and worship with us online. You may choose your own seating when you arrive, though we encourage you to social distance at least 3 feet between family units.

Face masks are no longer required if you are fully vaccinated. Masks are recommended if you are not fully vaccinated or have a weakened immune system.

Sunday School classes and Kids Church return to campus on June 20, and Thursday Lunch Club and Wednesday Evening Weekly return in August. You can read more Reopening Plan specifics here.

Mission of the Month: El Salvador
Our congregation and district have been faithful participants in the North Georgia Conference International Missions Bridge to El Salvador. Lasting relationships have been formed, mission trips have taken place, and the love of God has been spread around the world. The El Salvadorian Methodist Church needs our support and help as they seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Even though we have taken a break from our physical presence in Ahuachupan due to COVID-19, needs such as hunger, poverty, and education do not take a break.

Your financial gifts this month will help us ensure that our support of God’s work in El Salvador doesn’t either. Our goal is to raise $3,000 in June to support food distribution for those in need and the ongoing construction efforts of the Ahuachupan Methodist School. The school currently serves 450 students in grades kindergarten-7 and hopes to expand their reach to grades 8-12 with new facilities for their growing student population.

If you are interested in serving to make a difference in El Salvador, you can reach out to Blair Harlin to learn more about future mission trip opportunities. Also, you may support our efforts by making a check payable to First United Methodist Church with “missions” in the memo line or by giving online to “missions.” All gifts received toward missions in June will be used in support of this project until our goal is met. Any additional funds given in June that exceed our goal will remain in the missions fund to help us to honor other commitments to show the love of God and partner with impactful organizations in our community.

Golden Anniversary Lunch
If you're among the 50th anniversary couples who signed up to receive a Golden Anniversary Lunch, don't forget to pick yours up after this Sunday's service (unless you opted for delivery)!

Financial Giving
As of Sunday, May 30, we have received 100.89% of our anticipated giving year-to-date based on our 13-year giving model for our annual mission and ministry plan.

Almost $345,000 has been pledged above and beyond our operating budget to fund the current renovation projects in the Methodist Ministries Center (MMC) with $105,000 needed to fully fund the project.

Ways to Give: Check, Online at LaGrangeFUMC.org, or Text LGFUMC to 73256 to give using your mobile device.

Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ and His Church!

Contact: Jennifer Emery
As we move away from temperature takers, we are needing greeter volunteers on Sunday mornings at the front and handicap entrances. Please contact Jennifer if you are willing to say hello and extend a warm welcome to our members and guests.

Church On The Hooch
Contact: Mike Wilson
Church On The Hooch, our casual worship-on-the-water service, will be held at 10:00 am Sundays from June 6 to August 8. Our featured speakers signed up to participate at the speed of light, and now we need some volunteers to do the same! It takes a village to provide this wonderful ministry, and we need people to help with the set-up, breakdown, and transportation of materials to Camp Lumpkin each Sunday this summer. We also need volunteers to distribute signs around the county as well as ushers to collect the offering on the water. If you are interested in helping out, our mighty Church On The Hooch Captain Mike Wilson would love to find a place for you to serve.

Stephen Ministry
Contact: Hank Dobbins (706.518.8773)
Our Stephen Ministry equips and empowers lay caregivers (“Stephen Ministers”) to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. Those receiving care may be struggling with grief, a divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other crisis. A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour. All inquiries and discussions are strictly confidential.

Our church’s next training session to become a Stephen Minister will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from August 14 to November 10. Wednesday evening sessions are 1.5 hours, and Saturday sessions are 4 hours (with breaks).

Warren Temple UMC Food Distribution
Contact: George Henry
We need volunteers each month to help Warren Temple UMC with its monthly food distribution with Feeding the Valley Food Bank. You can email George, or sign up online for the food distribution days on June 22-23 and July 27-28. Thank you!

Vernon Woods Shuttle
Contact: Ben Wills (706.884.4635)
At the beginning of May, we began offering our church bus as a shuttle for Vernon Woods’ church members to attend our morning worship service. We plan to continue offering transportation to them on the first and third Sundays of each month. We would love to expand this service, but to do so, we need additional volunteers who are willing to drive the church bus one Sunday a month.
