St. John’s will live-stream a worship service this morning at 9:30 am (Contemporary) on the Abide Facebook page and 11:00 am (Traditional) on the homepage of the website . We hope you’ll worship with us! (Pastors Pam and Kelly will lead, along with Shea Perry, Jim Ahrend, and Matt Greer). We hope that you’ll participate by singing and praying at home! Any questions? Email Matt at mgreer@stjohns-abq.org.
We wait for your coming,
We wait for new life.
We wait in our despairing,
We wait through the strife.
But how long?
How much longer must we wait?

Lord we are forsaken,
We yearn to be free.
We know "Change is gonna come,"
but right now we can't breathe.
How long?
How much longer must we wait?

How long?
How much longer can we wait?

TEXAS METHODIST FOUNDATION GRANT FOR ST. JOHN'S FOOD MINISTRY
St John’s Food Ministry recently applied for and received a grant from the Texas Methodist Foundation for $15,000. The purpose of the grant is “to provide support to churches who are already collaborating with people and communities who may be most affected by COVID-19.”

Chef Tim and Pastor Kelly applied for the grant in order to serve nutritionally balanced hot meals to over 500 people per month in the greater Albuquerque area. Through partnerships with other churches and organizations, such as Casa Esperanza, Community of Hope, Breaking Bread, and Hope Works, St John’s continues to be in ministry throughout this time of recovery and response. The butterscotch cheesecake bars were served at HopeWorks this week.

Chef Tim and his staff are already at work serving 200 at HopeWorks on Tuesday May 26th and cooking for 60 at Community of Hope on May 31st.

These funds will help St John’s food ministry serve 500 people per month, over the next 6 months. Through this ministry we hope to grow this mission through our time, talents, gifts, service and witness. If you would like to help support the ongoing work of serving vulnerable populations such as seniors and/or people who are experiencing homelessness, please note on your memo line: feeding Albuquerque at St John’s UMC. If you have questions about this work or would like to be involved please contact: Chef Tim @ tnuzum@stjohns-abq.org or Pastor Kelly at kellyg@stjohns-abq.org

ST. JOHN'S EMAIL BIBLE STUDY: Theology in Popular Music - Mostly the Good
Last year’s study, “The Songs of Summer” seemed to be a hit, so we’re going to do it again. This summer we’ll listen to some popular music that sings about prayer and healing, some international music, some bluegrass and country, some great young singers who are the future of the Church, and some show tunes.  Download the study guide, or sign up for daily study tips by email by writing or calling Regina Hunter at drhunter@nmia.com or 294-2877.
