All music was "new music" once...
IBIS performs four stunning compositions for harp, flute
and strings
commissioned in early 20th century Paris
by the Quintette Instrumental de Paris.
Pierre Jamet and his Paris Quintet
In 1922, Parisian harpist Pierre Jamet founded his Quintette Instrumental de Paris to champion the double action pedal harp, then a relatively new invention.  Over the next few decades, the Quintette, a group of harp, flute and string trio, commissioned dozens of works by contemporary composers, greatly enriching the repertoire for what was then a very modern instrument.
IBIS Chamber Music 's harp quintet
In its last free concert of the season, IBIS presents four marvelous works commissioned by the Quintette, by composers Pierne, Francaix, Ropartz and Jongen.
This delightful music is rarely heard-don't miss this free concert!
