In 1922, Parisian harpist Pierre Jamet founded his Quintette Instrumental de Paris to champion the double action pedal harp, then a relatively new invention. Over the next few decades, the Quintette, a group of harp, flute and string trio, commissioned dozens of works by contemporary composers, greatly enriching the repertoire for what was then a very modern instrument.
