Advent begins this Sunday, November 30! Join us at 9 or 10:45 AM or online, for worship and the first message in our Christmas Interruptions sermon series called Expect Them from Zechariah and Luke 1:5-25. We'll worship together, light the first candle of Advent, and hear from Nate Powell about how every day is an opportunity for God to interrupt our lives, to move us in a new direction, and to shine through our lives. The birth story of Jesus is filled with surprising moments and different reactions: doubt, trust, hope, and celebration. When we look for divine interruptions in our everyday lives, we might be surprised by how God shows up. See you on Sunday!

A Way to the Manger from November 30 through December 21 | You’re invited to a hands-on, come-and-go experience in the chapel this Advent Season. It’s designed to keep us pursuing new life in Jesus all season long. Anyone can join us from 10 to 10:45 AM and after the 10:45 AM service. Each week offers something new—hope, peace, joy and love—as we learn to follow Jesus, welcome everyone, and love all.
| | For what's just ahead, see below or here... | | Night of Remembrance on Wednesday, December 3 | Gather with us to honor the lives of those we’ve lost, acknowledge our grief, and seek God’s comfort and peace. Through candlelight, scripture, music, prayer, and a short message on grief, this night offers hope and healing for hearts that are hurting. All are welcome. No sign-up necessary. From 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the chapel. | | | Students: Do Something Night is Wednesday, December 3 | Middle and High School students meet at the Student Center parking lot at 6:30 PM to carpool and caravan to Adelante Thrift in KCK. We’ll serve in whatever way is needed, then enjoy free ice cream at a store near Adelante Thrift before returning to Hillcrest around 8:30 PM. Thrift store sales benefits Mission Adelante, one of our partners. | | | Women’s Holiday Brunch with speaker on Thursday, December 4 | The Thursday Women’s Bible Study is hosting a brunch for all Hillcrest women and their guests from 9:30 to 11:30 AM in Fellowship Hall. Brian Jacobs will share from Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” No sign-up needed. | | | Christmas-Themed Hymn Sing on Sunday, December 21 from 6:30 to 7:45 PM in the sanctuary. Join us for a warm and joyful Hymn Sing when we'll lift our voices together in worship, singing the classic carols and songs that point our hearts toward the hope of Jesus. Come experience the beauty, community, and wonder of the season. Family, friends, and neighbors are invited—everyone is welcome! | | | Plan now to join us on Wednesday, December 24, for one of our Christmas Eve services at 3 or 5 PM. We'll gather as a whole church family with friends and neighbors to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the one who helps us live an Interrupted Life. Think of a friend or neighbor who may not have a church home and invite them today. (Invitations are available in the lobby.) We'll join you in praying for them to say yes and help them experience what it means to know Jesus. Kids and students are invited to worship with their families. Selfie booth available for individual and group photos! | | |
On Christmas Eve, we invite you to grab a box of donuts as you leave and deliver them to select locations where people have to work that evening. It's a Hillcrest tradition to thank people in our community as we drive home after the service.
