THE POWER OF PRAISE

How important is it to continually praise God? Psalm 146, 147, 148, 149, and 150 all start with “Praise ye the Lord,” which gives us a clue. Praise is powerful.

How powerful is it? Psalm 149:6-9 tells us, “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand (v. 6, KJV).”

Just what can the “two-edged sword of praise” accomplish? Verses 7-9 says it. “To execute judgement upon the heathen and punishments upon the people, and to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, (and) to execute upon them the judgement written (in the word).”

This means that our praises to God destroy the works of Satan and his demons. Satan does use kings (political leaders) and princes (people of influence or power) to accomplish his evil plans. The people are used by Satan to bring immorality or chaos, disorder, and violence. All these things are against God and against us individually and corporately. Satan cannot stand praises to God.

Who has the honor and ability to destroy or tear down the evil works of Satan? Verse 9 (b) says, “this honor have all His saints. Praise ye the Lord.”   You and I (and every born-again believer) have the power to resist all of Satan’s forces and to stop his works against us. It is done through honest and sincere praise spoken out audibly to our Lord and Savior. Through praise we can access all the power through the Name of Jesus that Father God has given. Silence will not get it done. Silent prayer is not the word. It is spoken out of our mouth. The words of praise coming out of your mouth are the two-edged sword that overcomes all evil.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue…” As your tongue utters praise to God, it brings life to you and death to the adversary’s plans and attacks. Speak out the high praises to God from your tongue. Praise Father, Son, and Holy ghost. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 100.6).”

ARE THERE BENEFITS
TO BEING A CHRISTIAN?

Often people think being a Christian is stepping down a notch or two and becoming a “holy roller” or a “goodie two shoes.” I would have to say that both of those statements are inaccurate. I have had more fun as a Christian than I ever did as a non-believer. I still joke, I still love a good cartoon that gives me a belly laugh. I still smile, and I can do whatever I want. Whatever? Yes. It is just that my wants are not what they were before I became a Christian. My want to   is to   please God. I have a plaque on my wall in the kitchen that says, “If it pleases you to please God, you can do as you please.” That is the point. My choice is to please God.

Are there benefits to being a Christian? Oh yes. Let’s take a look at Psalm 103. Verse 3 says, “who forgiveth all thine iniquities” Let’s start with that. What are iniquities? The Hebrew word for iniquity is defined as: ‘avon - which means perversity, moral evil, mischief, faults wickedness. Well that is a great benefit.

Let’s go on with that verse. It continues with, “who health all thy diseases.” Well, I don’t know about you, but that is a great benefit. When medical help says there is no help, there is help. God heals all our diseases. Do you believe that? It comes to those that believe it. I have seen so many miracles I should write a book about them.

Verse 4 goes on to say, “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction.” Now that’s a real plus, to redeem means to buy something back. Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, I have been redeemed from the destruction of hell. I have the certainty that I will not go there because I asked Jesus to be my Savior. That certainly is the best of the benefits!

Psalm 103 is full of different benefits. You should read it for yourself.  Yet, none of the benefits are acquired without receiving them. They all come by faith. You must believe that God is and that he rewards them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6). So yes, there are benefits to being a Christian. I wouldn’t want to live my life any other way, when His way gives the best benefits of all!

WEEPING ENDURES FOR THE NIGHT...
BUT JOY COMES IN THE MORNING

I sense this is a word for many of you in this season, especially within the remnant ~
Below is a word I shared 3 years ago today, but I feel it is as much for now as ever for some of you. Many have still been walking through a "dark night of the soul" season...and just when you thought it was coming to an end, it intensified this year and continued. Hold on, My child..
