Updated COVID-19 Protocols

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends indoor mask use in counties with high rates of transmission—even for vaccinated individuals. We encourage each of you to consult with your trusted physician to determine what protocols are best for your overall health.

Our individual actions certainly impact our community of faith. If you have not been vaccinated or if you are immuno–compromised, we respectfully request that you follow the recommendation to wear a mask while inside church buildings. Masks are available at each entry.

May we continue to pray that the epidemiological end to the pandemic is reached soon so we may continue to transition toward normalcy.

On November 7, immediately following the 11:00 am Traditional Worship Service, our congregation and community are invited to gather in Wesley Hall to continue worshipping through service! We will provide a quick lunch and then will work together to pack 20,088 meals in partnership with Rise Against Hunger.

We need 100 volunteers to pack for two hours that afternoon. We respectfully ask that all participants wear masks while serving since this project involves food preparation. We also ask you to donate towards missions throughout the rest of the month to help cover the $7,000 contribution our church will give Rise Against Hunger for meal supplies.

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources in its effort to end hunger by 2030. Packing the food in an assembly-line process allows us a church to provide meals to people in critical need across the globe.

As of Sunday, October 10, we have received 99.54% of our anticipated giving year-to-date based on our 13-year giving model for our annual mission and ministry plan.

More than $397,592 has been pledged above and beyond our operating budget to fund the current renovation projects in the Methodist Ministries Center (MMC) with $52,407 needed to fully fund the project.

Ways to Give: Check, Online at LaGrangeFUMC.org, or Text LGFUMC to 73256 to give using your mobile device.

Community Fall Festival
Contact: Jeanne Jones
Our church’s fall festival is set for 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, October 24, in the Trinity Street parking lot. We will have a trunk-or-treat, games, inflatables, a cakewalk, a costume contest, and food trucks! (The festival is free, though guests would need to bring some money for food served from the food trucks.) Considering we’re anticipating 800 or more guests, we really need your help! Here’s how:

  • Donate individually wrapped candy. Please drop it off inside the door of the Broad Street entrance of the Children’s Building by Sunday, October 17.
  • Lend your car trunk for the trunk-or-treat. If you can decorate your trunk and give out candy at our trunk-or-treat, please fill out a trunk application located in the Narthex, and then and drop it by the Church Office or email it to Children’s Minister Jeanne Jones (jeanne@lagrangefumc.org) by October 17.
  • Donate cakes and cupcakes to give away at the cakewalk. They can be dropped off at the Church Office no later than Sunday morning, October 24. Cupcakes can be packed with six in a package. Large cakes can be split and wrapped as two halves.
  • Lend a hand on the day of the event. Jeanne needs lots of volunteers to set up, greet, host the registration table, serve popcorn and water, oversee the inflatables, and clean up afterward. Please email Jeanne if you can help!

Wednesday Night Kids
Contact: Jeanne Jones
We are bursting at the seams with the number of children coming to Wednesday Night Kids, and because of that, we need your help! Please consider volunteering from 5:15-7:15 pm on Wednesdays to be a presence and show God’s love to our children. You don’t have to lead a group, tell a story, or belt out a solo; just come be a part of the wonderful growing pains we’re experiencing!
