Updated COVID-19 Protocols

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends indoor mask use in counties with high rates of transmission—even for vaccinated individuals. We encourage each of you to consult with your trusted physician to determine what protocols are best for your overall health.

Our individual actions certainly impact our community of faith. If you have not been vaccinated or if you are immuno–compromised, we respectfully request that you follow the recommendation to wear a mask while inside church buildings. Masks are available at each entry.

May we continue to pray that the epidemiological end to the pandemic is reached soon so we may continue to transition toward normalcy.

UMCOR/Hurricane Ida Relief

The United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) continues to provide disaster relief to areas affected by Hurricane Ida. Emergency funding that UMCOR receives provides, in part, for the purchase of flood buckets and other relief kits as well as help through UMCOR-trained local Emergency Response Teams. To support UMCOR, you can make a gift online and select “UMCOR“ in the drop-down menu. You also may write a check to the church; please write “UMCOR“ in the memo line.

Soul Connections Registration

Time is drawing near to sign up to be a part of a Soul Connections Group! These relationship-driven small groups are open to all and will be offered at varying times and days of the week, meeting weekly September 26 through November 7. Each group allows participants to do life together, further connecting with God and one another in transformational community. Listen below how Soul Connections has had an impact on the lives of those who have been a part of it!

You also can learn more about Soul Connections, and then register here by September 19.
Registration forms are in the Narthex on Sunday mornings, along with someone who can answer any questions you may have.

Why bother to pray? Do my prayers really make any difference? If you’ve ever pondered those questions, you may be interested in attending a Prayer Workshop led by Rev. Leah Cunningham on Saturday, September 18, from 9:00 to 12:30 pm at First Methodist. Rev. Cunningham, director of the North Georgia Conference PrayerForce, travels the Conference sharing her passion for prayer. She brings to our churches an excitement about prayer that focuses on the personal prayer life of each individual, as well as the collective power of prayer as a mission of the church.

The PrayerForce does not charge a specific fee for workshops or consulting, but love offerings are accepted to help offset travel and workshop expenses. The workshops are casual, fun and informative. Whether you are an experienced intercessor or new to prayer, you’ll be glad you came! If you’re interested, please RSVP to Linda Frano.

Financial Giving

As of Sunday, September 5, we have received 100.64% of our anticipated giving year-to-date based on our 13-year giving model for our annual mission and ministry plan.

More than $395,843 has been pledged above and beyond our operating budget to fund the current renovation projects in the Methodist Ministries Center (MMC) with $53,157 needed to fully fund the project.

Ways to Give: Check, Online at LaGrangeFUMC.org, or Text LGFUMC to 73256 to give using your mobile device.

Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ and His Church!
