In commemoration of Unity’s upcoming World Day of Prayer, we ask: As our understanding of ourselves and our planet evolves, shouldn’t our understanding and practice of prayer evolve as well? In this interactive gathering, we explore two powerful prayer practices that invite us beyond petition and personal concerns into a deeper awareness of our participation in the evolving consciousness of our planet. We begin with The Great Invocation, a planetary prayer that calls forth Light, Love, and Sacred Purpose—not simply for ourselves, but for humanity and the Earth as a divine sentient being.
We then turn to The Examen, the centuries-old prayer process developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, and reimagine it for our times. What might happen if we learned to recognize the movements in our everyday lives that carry a deeper spiritual significance—and allowed those moments to become doorways into higher consciousness? Together, we’ll explore how prayer can become more than something we say—a living practice that can transform the way we perceive, respond to, and participate in the Divine presence that illuminates our life lessons.
