Rev. Dr. Fran Wiebenga was called into ministry in the United Methodist Church. She received her M.Div. and D.Min. from the Claremont School of Theology. She has served churches in California and in Hawaii, most recently at Harris United Methodist Church in Honolulu.
She attended the Unity Church in Seattle, WA, before being called into ministry in the UMC. She reconnected with the Unity Church through her yoga practice with Rev. Susan Choi after her retirement, and is looking forward to bringing the message this Sunday.
Rev. Fran's topic is a presentation based on the book by Marcus Borg, "Meeting Jesus (Again) for the First Time." She will present Jesus as a spirit person, bringing the compassionate presence of God to the people, and confronting the purity system of Jesus' time.
She will also present the three macro stories found throughout the Jewish and Christian scriptures that inform our images of Jesus and the Christian life: the Exodus Story, the story of Exile and Return, and the Priestly Story.
