Call to Worship
As we enter the season of Lent
remind us anew of your saving grace,
and of our chance for rebirth.
Amidst the storms and floods of life,
teach us the ways of life and death,
that we may use this season
as a time of gratitude for the past,
and a time of hope for the future,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

When we are called to sing your praise with hearts so filled with pain
That we would rather sit and weep or stand up to complain,
Remind us, God, you understand the burdens that we bear;
You, too, have walked the shadowed way and known our deep despair.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When we are called to sing your praise and cannot find our voice,
Because our losses leaves us now no reason to rejoice.
Remind us, God, that you accept our sad laments in prayer;
You, too, have walked the shadowed way and known our deep despair.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When we are called to sing your praise and life ahead looks grim,
Still give us faith and hope enough to break forth in a hymn,
A thankful hymn, great God of Love, that you are everywhere;
You walk the shadowed way with us and keep us in your care.

*Affirmation of Faith
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
On the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
*Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, amen.
We Grow Through the Spoken Word
Old Testament Lesson
Psalm 25:4-10
Teach me your ways, O LORD;
make them known to me.
Teach me to live according to your truth,
for you are my God, who saves me.
I always trust in you.
Remember, O LORD, your kindness and constant love
which you have shown from long ago.
Forgive the sins and error of my youth.
In your constant love and goodness,
remember me, LORD!
Because the LORD is righteous and good,
He teaches sinners the path they should follow.
He leads the humble in the right way
and teaches them his will.
With faithfulness and love he leads
all who keep his covenant and obey his commands.
Morning Prayer and The Lord's Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen
Response
Lord, may our prayer rise like incense in your sight,
May this place be filled with the fragrance of Christ. Amen.

Come Away with Me
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Come away with me to a quiet place,
apart from the world with its frantic pace,
to pray, reflect, and seek God's grace.
xxxxxxxxx
Refrain: Come away with me. Come away.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Come and pray with me on a gentle sea,
on top of a hill in the Galilee,
in gardens like Gethsemane.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Come today with thoughts of the countless ways
that God's steadfast love blesses all our days,
and join with me in silent praise.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Come and say, in words whispered from your soul,
the feelings and actions you can't control.
Your spirit needs to be made whole.

*Presentation of Offering and Doxology
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
praise him above, ye heavenly host;
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

*Gospel Reading
Luke 22:39-46
Jesus left the city and went, as he usually did, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples went with him. When he arrived at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
Then he went off from them about the distance of a stone’s throw and knelt down and prayed. “Father,” he said, “if you will, take this cup of suffering away from me. Not my will, however, but thy will be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. In great anguish he prayed even more fervently; his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
Rising from his prayer, he went back to the disciples and found them asleep, worn out by their grief. He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

Who Is He in Yonder Stall
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Who is he in yonder stall
at whose feet the shepherds fall?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Refrain:
'Tis the Lord, O wondrous story!
'Tis the Lord, the King of glory;
at his feet we humbly fall,
crown him, crown him Lord of all!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Lo, at midnight who is he
prays in dark Gethsemane? [Refrain]
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Who is he in Calvary's throes
asks for blessings on his foes? [Refrain]
