Mary Magdalene Church

Mary Magdalene Church is an inclusive church in the Catholic tradition where people from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to the Lord's Table. Sunday Morning Parking Reminder!! 🚗

We’re grateful for the vibrant Sunday mornings at MMC and for the generosity of our neighbors at First Church of Christ, Scientist (1104 Main St.), who graciously share their lot with us. To ensure safety and continued hospitality, please follow these parking guidelines:

  • MMC Lot Traffic Flow: All vehicles must enter to the right and follow a counter-clockwise pattern.
  • No Shoulder Parking: Please do not park on the driveway shoulder—this keeps the way clear for emergency vehicles.
  • Neighboring Lot Use: If parking at First Church of Christ, Scientist, please drive slowly, enter/exit with care, and park only in the back of their lot.
  • Street Parking: Be mindful of Village parking regulations when parking along the street.

Thank you for helping us be good neighbors and for making our shared space safe and welcoming for all!

Advent Tuesdays at 5:45 PM

Join us each Tuesday evening during Advent for a Mass that invites us into a different rhythm, less traditional than Sunday liturgy, yet deeply rooted in the spirit of the season.

Together, we’ll explore the playful parts of our waiting with joy, curiosity, and courage, inspired by the legacy of John Lewis and the hope that Advent stirs in us all. Following the December 2nd Mass, Kathy Welch and friends will provide an hour of musical reflection and a chance to sing along in hope for our world beginning at 6:45PM.

Save the Date! Parish Community Forum

Join us after Mass (in person and on Zoom), Sunday, December 7th in Fellowship Hall during coffee hour for our Parish Community Forum. Jim Bridges will present the proposed 2025–2026 budget, followed by other members of the Board and various ministry teams for updates on current events and future plans. There will be time for questions and discussion. Your voice and presence matter. Come be part of the conversation as we plan for the year ahead!

Prayer Buddies

The Knit, Purl & Sew Ministry is spreading comfort and joy by collecting new stuffed bears for nursing home residents. Each bear will carry a heartfelt pocket prayer, offering a gentle reminder that they are loved and remembered.

If you’d like to donate a small bear or other stuffed animal, please place it in the box marked “Prayer Buddies” located next to the prayer shawls. Let’s wrap our neighbors in love!

Snow Angels Needed

As winter returns, we’re looking for volunteers to help clear snow and ice from the church sidewalks and steps on Sunday mornings. Please arrive between 9:15-9:30 to help before worship begins. We provide the power shovel (easy to use), regular shovels (at both entrances) and rock salt (available at both entrances). If you are able to assist, please contact Sue, or just show up! Your help keeps our space safe and welcoming for all! Thank you for being part of this caring community!

Blessing Box Update – Fall/Winter

As the weather cools, let’s warm our hearts together and help nourish and support our neighbors. Please avoid glass containers and consider donating:

instant oatmeal & potatoes, rice, dried beans, canned veggies and soups, dried fruit, cereal, granola bars, nuts, nut butters, crackers, pouches of tuna, chicken, dried beef, hats, gloves, socks and hygiene products (travel-size welcome!) Every item makes a difference. Thank you for your continued generosity and care for our community! 🙏

Annual Winter Coat Drive

A box will be located in the church’s entrance to collect gently used and new coats, hats, gloves/mittens for men, women, children in need in the Rochester area. These items will be distributed to the Open Door Mission, House of Mercy, Saint Joseph’s and other social agencies. The collection will take place until December 1. Please contact Dory Deisenroth at 585-750-2557 with any questions or concerns.

Changes in the Library

Did you know we have a library? If you did not, you are not alone. We are working to move the library that was on the first floor to the Fellowship Hall downstairs. We have spent a great deal of time going through each book and donating what we did not need in our collection. Thank you to the librarians for their hard work!

So how can you help us go forward. Right now, please do not bring any books to the Church. Please take them to Goodwill or your local library. After the first of the year, we will only take books with a copyright date of 2020 or newer. Older books will be taken if written by well-known authors such as Thich Nhat Hahn, Joyce Rupp, Richard Rohr, Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen, C.S. Lewis, Jim Wallis Parker Palmer, Thomas Keating, Eckhart Tolle, Paulo Coelho, Dali Lama, to name a few.

Once we have the library set up, we will make an announcement that we will accept books again. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a library that is relevant and current.
