STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship furthers Christ’s message within us, our families, and our communities. This creates a spiritual atmosphere of worship, engagement, fulfillment, and inspiration that we can offer to the world, following the example set by God Himself of love, service, and giving.

OTHER NEWS

A WORD ABOUT CHURCH SEATING - please...

  • Leave the front right row for people with special needs
  • Leave the back 2 rows, right and left, for families with children
  • Fill in all the rows by moving in towards the center aisle so we can better accommodate the larger number of people.
  • ...and thank you!

A WORD ABOUT CHURCH ATTIRE

Orthodox church attire emphasizes modesty and respect for the sacred space, with general guidelines including covered shoulders and knees, and avoiding shorts, casual wear, t-shirts, and clothing with distracting logos or writing. Suggested wear for men would be collared shirts and dress pants, and for women would be skirts, dresses, or dress pants. Children should begin to understand a distinction between play clothes and church clothes.

TAP-N-PAY TERMINAL NOW AVAILABLE

Candle offerings, bookstore purchases, and general donations can be made by credit card at church. (Note that reoccurring stewardship giving is best submitted via ACH or Bill Pay if possible)

HYMNS & READINGS

WE COMMEMORATE:

The Holy Martyrs Acindynos, Pegasios, Aphthonios, Elpidophoros, and Anempodistos, Domnina, Domna, & Kyriaki, the Martyrs Gabriel the New Confessor of Georgia

Resurrectional Apolytikion Mode 4

When the women disciples of the Lord heard the Angel joyously proclaim the resurrection, they cast aside the ancestral verdict, and boasting in glory they said to the Apostles, “Death has been despoiled! Christ God has risen, granting the great mercy to the world!”

Entrance Hymn Mode 2

Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ. Save us, O Son of God, risen from the dead. We sing to You, Alleluia.

For the Saint Mode 2

O victorious Athletes of the Lord, blessed is the ground that was watered with your blood, and holy are the dwellings that received your spirits. You prevailed over the enemy in the stadium, and you openly proclaimed Christ. We pray you will earnestly entreat Him for us, that He save our souls, since He is good.

Kontakion Mode 2

O Protection of Christians that never falls, intercession with the Creator that never fails, we sinners beg you, do not ignore the voices of our prayers. O good Lady, we implore you, quickly come unto our aid, when we cry out to you with faith. Hurry to intercession, and hasten to supplication, O Theotokos who protect now and ever those who honor you.

Hymn to the Theotokos Mode pl. 4

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

ST. PHILOTHEA APOLYTIKION MODE 4

The famed city of Athens does honor Philothea, the righteous martyr whose relics it now revers with joy. For while living in sobriety and holiness she has exchanged all earthly things for the everlasting life through great contest as a martyr. And she entreateth the Savior to grant His mercy unto us.

St. Paul's Letter to Galatians 2:16-20

Prokeimenon. Mode 4

Psalm 103.24,1

O Lord, how manifold are your works. You have made all things in wisdom.

Verse: Bless the Lord, O my soul.

Brethren, knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Gospel According to Luke 16:19-31

The Lord said, "There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate lay a poor man named Lazaros, full of sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table; moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried; and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes, and saw Abraham far off and Lazaros in his bosom. And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy upon me, and send Lazaros to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am in anguish in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazaros in like manner evil things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.' And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' But Abraham said, 'They have Moses, and the prophets; let them hear them.' And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if some one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' He said to them, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced if some one should rise from the dead.'"
