BOOTS FOR BREAKFAST THIS TUESDAY!

Yes, you read correctly! HAVAN is teaming up with Impact Recruitment to collect boots, in support of local non-profit Working Gear Clothing Society, that sees well over 1,000 individuals come through its doors each year in need of industry appropriate clothing and work boots, to be able to return to full-time employment.

Impact Recruitment will be available at HAVAN's Breakfast Networking Event this Tuesday to collect donations in good (safe) working condition, including:
  • Steel-toe boots (biggest need!)
  • Work gloves
  • Rain gear
  • Work pants and shirts
  • Other construction worksite appropriate clothing

The Boot and clothing drive continues through to February 28, so be sure to share this opportunity to give back with all of your industry connections.

HAVAN's Breakfast Networking Event brings out members and non-members, builders and suppliers, and new and past HAVAN board members. A great way to start your day, your complimentary HAVAN Event includes:

Kathy is an Architectural Technologist and Principal of Phase One Design. Her award-winning design firm has been working with homeowners for 11 years and has helped over 500 clients successfully design and plan their new custom home projects. HAVAN WOMEN'S COUNCIL INDUSTRY TOUR MARCH 11

HAVAN is excited to announce our second Women’s Council Industry Tour hosted by Pacific Rim Cabinets Ltd . on Wednesday, March 11th from 1:00pm -3:00pm. This exciting tour will take attendees from raw material to finished product on their tour of an established millwork and cabinetry facility.

Pacific Rim Cabinets Ltd. is a mid to high end cabinetry and millwork company, with clients in the lower mainland and Japan. Started in 1997, PRC is a strong example of a company that empowers women to work in non-traditional roles.
 
The event includes a guided tour of the production facility and networking social co-hosted by Pacific Rim Cabinets and Katerina and Silvie of Designs by KS . Come join the tour and learn about the cabinetry and millwork industry, and network with employers and employees alike! Open your mind. Space is limited.
BCIT JOB FAIR – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

  • Offer current job position opportunities
  • Encourage women & a diverse group of graduates to enter the residential construction industry

In partnership with FortisBC’s BUILT BETTER program, HAVAN and CHBA Fraser Valley are presenting the final full-day session of this four-part series, A Holistic Approach to Improving Air Tightness . In the previous three session, participants were exposed to holistic long-term airtightness solutions for roofs, decks, above grade walls, below grade assemblies, windows and doors, and in this seminar, the learning lessons will be put to the test. Led by Hamid Heidarali of Hamid Design Build, this highly interactive and hands-on workshop is designed to bring together builders and their teams (site staff, designers, trades, consultants).

Held at the BCIT High Performance Building Lab, this pre-recorded session focuses on the demonstration of four LEEP wall assembly strategies to meet the Net Zero Energy Ready construction standard, as well as discussion on moisture, thermal bridging and airtightness challenges.

High Performance Homes with BCBEC FEBRUARY 25

Building Smart for High Performance Homes with BCBEC is this Tuesday, February 25th. Covering topics on cost effective and energy efficient homes, indoor air quality and thermal comfort, building envelope systems, and window and roof installation, this 1/2 day course includes a trade show. Women's Council: OPEN POSITION: INDUSTRY TOURS SUB-COMMITTEE CHAIR

The goal of the Women’s Council Industry Tours is to open doors to verticals within the residential construction industry, not regularly considered by, or for, women. To help break down barriers within the industry, tours will highlight women in non-traditional roles and give insight into intra-industry opportunities, helping empower and educate HAVAN members.
 
There will be two industry tours this year. We are currently looking for a Volunteer to fill the Industry Tours Sub-Committee Chair role. Please indicate your interest ( [email protected] ) and we can provide further details.
