Where did all these weeds come from?
Even Pastor's dog wants to know. (See bottom left.)

In today's parable, some fieldworkers ask just this question. We could add some more: Why are there so many? Why are things such a mess? Jesus suggests that both wheat and weeds grow together until the harvest. With the apostle Paul, writing to ancient Christians in Rome, we too long for the day that all creation will be set free from bondage and suffering. We long to be free from the coronavirus pandemic. We long to be free from systemic racism. Having both weeds and wheat within us, we humbly place our hope in the promises of God. Then sings our souls, our Savior God to Thee: How great thou art! How great thou art!
